Default Who needs wheel bearings and ball joints pressed, I'm your friend

Finally got around to buying a shop press after spending tons of money on over priced machinests.

Rates:
$35 for a wheel bearing
$20 for a ball joint

$50 a side for both together

The only requirements is that you'll have to bring the control arm bare:
- No brake caliper
- No axle
- No abs sensors
- No lines still attached

(an additional charge will apply if i have to dissassemble the control arm)

Call me if your interested (847) 533-2932

your not supposed to advertise services in the threads. read the last part in the posting rules. otherwise every shop would be advertising in here posting specials and it would be a mess

For someone bringing a part to you already pulled, yes, the prices sound high. I typically charge $10 to put a wheel bearing in if someone brings me the knuckle off of the car. It takes 10 minutes max so I feel like I'm still getting paid pretty good. Ball joints, you are probably somewhat reasonable since they can be a little more of a PITA.

And, as stated earlier, you are not supposed to advertise services here.

my bad guys, mods can delete this. What i meant by "bear" is don't leave the brake caliper and rotor and abs sensor on. I don't want to have to go through all the work of removing them and reinstalling everything as you had it set up. The axle hub stays in place you guys don't have to pull the axle hub from the bearing that's the hard part and reinstalling it along with removing the inner bearing race which always gets stuck to the axle hub and has to be cut off carefully.

I always just use a cheap bearing splitter. You can get it behind the piece and zing the hub right off.

One of these with your press http://www.spx.usatoolwarehouse.com/...3/otc-1126.gif

Or one of these and just a wrench http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

The bearing pullers are great except for the inner bearing race is normally agaist the back of the hub and there isn't a lip or any distance to catch it on so it has to be grinded and cut off

Never had that problem on a Civic. There is a fillet on the back side of the hub so the bearing piece is 1/8 to 1/4" away from there. My bearing splitter bolts on no problem...
