Default D16y7 to D16y8 Swap

My friend just blew his engine in his dx hatch...We are gonna swap in a d16y8 for now....He doesnt have the ecu for the Ex engine...The stock ecu will work right?? He just needs to get a vtec controller or a rpm activated switch? How straight foward is this swap...The new engine harness was cut at the engine...So do we put the harness from the dx engine on the ex and use the stock harness commin from the car?? Any help is appreciated!!

Just get the EX ECU...i have seen them as cheap $50, but if you get a RPM activated switch...then your going to need some sort of AFC to make up for the fuel needed when the VTEC kicks in...better off jsut going w/ the straight ECUY swap..
