Transmission Leaking
So my tranny has been leaking a little ever since I got this car. I don't know where it's leaking from and how to stop it. I really wanna fix it now that I put new fluid in it. Any help is much appreciated (sorry for the bad quality pics)
The most probable place that a manual transmission could be leaking from is at the drive axle seals. In this case I don't believe that the transmission would have to bo taken down, but the drive axles will have to be pulled from the transmission in order to change the seals.
If your transmission is not leaking around the axle seals, it may have a leaking gasket that needs to be replaced. Again, be ready for lots of fluid to come spilling out when you break the seal of the gasket.
Another location for leaks is the input shaft of the transmission (near the clutch). The input shaft has a seal around it.
A less likely location for leaks is around the shift linkage. Since the linkage is usually on the top or upper sides, you will seldom get leaks there.
Bump for someone who had more excperience or suggestions.

Yeah I love doing it too, but all i have is a couple jacks for changing tires and some socket wrenches. I'm super broke too, because I just got a $40 parking ticket today for parking the wrong direction
i know what you mean.. i got a ticket today for running a YELLOW LIGHT!!! i wasn't red yet... but i drive a milano red hatch that is 3in off the ground so iguess that made the light turn red.........
well i swapped my tranny on jack stands.. not fun but it works. all i had was a set of tools too. all Daniel power, no air tools... haha

Holy crap bro. How did you lift the tranny out? I need to take some lessons lol. So far all I've done is changed my oil and mtf on jack stands. Always scares me that the car's gonna fall on me.
yeah scares me too haha. i took the tranny out from the bottom.. easier i thought.. maybe not? i would ask around and see what all people do first so you can take the best/safest/fastest route.. mine took like 5-6 hours haha
btw that tranny only weighs like 50lbs i think

not sure. i was going to ask you if your distributer was leaking down on it but i thought you would have caught it. if it is that then you dant have as much work cut out haha
from the photos its not possible to be from the trans... under ur leak is the clutch and flywheel so there is no fluis there... looks like its leaking from ur block or vtec seleniod. the best way to drop the trans is under the car. done it 3 times haha.. lil tp when installing it again take the intermediate shaft off and put the trans on then install the shaft back into the trans. makes life alot easier
So I'm gonna start a new thread because I've taken a bunch of new photos and a lot of people said it most likely isn't the transmission, so the title is incorrect.
