RPM gauge not working

I have a 93 hatch with a b18b. all of the sudden the rpm gauge stopped working. Now it bounces sometimes, will not move, and sometimes for a few seconds it will be dead on. I just wanted some opinions on what to look for.

The igniter unit in the distributor may be failing.
