Default Considering an EP3, 13 sec 1/4?

I am considering an EP3 but am curious. Can I get the car to run a mid 13 sec 1/4 mile?
I dont wanna do anything swap wise but I'm willing to supercharger eventually. Either way, what would it take?

I don't know. From what I've read about online, a lot of the JRSC guys with K20A3s run like low 14s. With the race pulley or w/e, good driving, drag radials, and some minor weight reduction maybe high 13s.

But I don't see why swapping is not an option, people have ran in the low 14s / high 13s on a K20A2 swapped EP3 with bolt-ons/KPro. If that doesn't work out, supercharge it

The trick with the jrsc kit is you need the race kit and a race header.....Your stock cat will only flow about 200-210 whp.....jerzyjew over on the hatch has done mid 13's with the following mods....

jrsc race kit, dc race header( with motor mounts), bored out tb,3" cai and a good catback.....he had a evens tune of 230ish whp....

And that's tuned with K-Pro correct?

It would have to be with kpro. The race header and jrsc would almost require kpro to run correctly

How about 12's with a JRSC?!?! That would be pretty tough and cool to do in an EP3...

yes, it would have to be a tuned kpro......as for 13's being fast in 1999....drag racing fwd is dumb. Save your money and pick up a 96 c4 corvette with the lt4....345 hp, 3100lbs and will do low 12's all day long and with some good tires pull one gee with out doing anything to it...if you shop creigslist, you can find them for around 10-12 grand. Kinda makes dumping money into civic's look even more dumb than it alread does.

I think you coulds do 12's with an a3 jrsc-r....You would need a lsd, stronger axils and slicks....The highest hp I have seen from a a3 jrsc-r was like 250ish with some bc cams

i didnt go through the entire thread but honestly..for what it's worth.. a smaller pulley on a jrsc, a really REALLY good race header and sick *** driving will put you where you need to be.....

Well this will be a DD, so I'm not drag racing it, thats just roughly the speed I want the car to be at. 13's.

Swap or supercharge an ep and you'll be happy with it as a DD.

yea, the cost of the motor and install isnt something I'd wanna do. Plus the misc. parts that wont match up.

I'd rather supercharge it.
I'd probably eventually add cams too. Someone said we can use cams from a TSX, is this true?
I also plan to get some seriously light wheels and eventually WAY down the road, and LSD.

These people's already suggest the supercharging, and I don't want to just repeat them. So...

I know you said you don't want to swap, but for a perfect DD for the EP3. I'd suggest you K20A/24A2 frank it. Some I/H/E and you'll already be happy of how it runs

you should really consider swapping in an a2 swap. It's really worth it. With just some basic bolt ons and a good tune you can hit 13's easy. I have an a2 swap in my ep and my best is 13.1. I just have an a2 swap, type r cams, rbc, dc race header, small intake, k pro, lsd

quite a bit more money though.....do the math....

a2 swap+trans..4000
kpro.................890
3" cai...............250
cat back...........500
rbc..................200
rh...................350
r cams.............350
lsd..................800
total.............7340

jrsc-r with kpro......3500
3" cai.....................250
rh..........................350
cat back.................500
bored out tb.............130
lsd..........................800
total.......................5530

the a2 will end up putting out 220whp with a tune and the jrsc will end up putting out 235ish and you will have more tq down low than the a2...another advantage with the jrsc is you can pull it off and bring the car back to stock in about 3 hours....takes a bit longer with the motor swap......

Just to be devil's advocate with patience you could find an A2 engine for 1100 and a trans for 900
