05 Civic LE hard to get reverse
Any suggestions would be helpful. Many times in cold weather or on a hill it is very hard to put in reverse, (manual 5-speed), the first time. I pump the clutch several times to move the hydraulic flud but it doesn't help much. I have had it into the dealer, (still under warantee), but they say it is within specs. Any suggestions?
when one of my friends had trouble with reverse, the mechanic and others on the forum told him to put it into 1st and then try to put it back into reverse.. if not .. good luck with your problem
Make sure the car is at a full stop and not rolling at all try to put it into reverse if It doesn't work put it into a different gear then try reverse. Some times if I let my car role a little bit then go to a complete stop mine will go in. Our tranies are set up so they cant go into reverse well driving forward. And they will grind even with the clutch in if your rolling and trying to put it into reverse.
the reverse gear is not synchronized so you must be at a complete stop before shifting into reverse. if it won't go in, you can try shifting into one of the forward gears then go for reverse.
try clutching in, wait 10 seconds, shift into reverse. does it go in easy? if it grinds, your clutch isn't releasing fully.
