Default 86 civic dx mod help

So, it's got about 58,000 (seriously) miles on it, and it's all stock. No serious engine trouble. Solid maintenance record. I don't really know a lot about car mods. I'm humbly putting myself at the mercy of the forum, and hoping that someone will give me some good advice, all while I get my feet wet with this kind of stuff.

So, I'm looking to boost horsepower a bit (about 20-40 hp more) and get rid of a good amount of the body roll that the car has now. Ideally, I'd like to get my top speed to 100-110, and if not that, at least an increase in acceleration. I plan on mostly using this car for canyon runs and freeway driving.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Byron

Heh... well i think overall if u wanna do a sleeper status application then, hey swap it man... That is after u run down ur ew1.

I got one my self a 86 civic dx and i got plans for a b16a swap. But overall if u wanna stop the body roll then lower it, and get rear coilovers that'll help a bit, but sides that if u wanna know about from lowering u gotta google or go to: http://www.redpepperracing.com/wiki/..._the_front-end

well, in order to decrease body roll you'd best look at a set of upgraded front torsien bars too. the stock motor can be made fast for sure, it just takes a little parts searching to do so. if you wanted to convert to fuel injection and a little bit more HP, you can swap in the running gear from an 86-87 integra and get about 112 hp or so. but you'd probably have to convert to fuel injection, unless you want to run dual carb setup.. which i'd love to.. then again, a good carb can do wonders for the DX motors. downdraft webber 32/36 i believe..

swapping is not laziness. it's actually a major pain.

motor swaps are not lazy endeavors. true the b series motors are nice but if you want a truly bad *** setup you will need pretty much rebuild the motor.

hehe so would i. i don't care about being current, nothing can beat the old-school VTEC feel. so abrupt. so sudden. so much of a difference.. you can barely tell you are hitting VTEC with all the new cars out there..
