Best way to bondle up holes eat'n away by rust?
I got a problem where the rust ate away part of my car and made a pretty big hole lol...I was asking to see what is the best way of bonding it up? I heard using regular bonding material cracks when it gets cold...So that person said to use fiber glass to cover up tha holes and bond over it but I don't know how do it that way exactly...I just need to know the best way of bonding up a hole and how? With out falling apart later on or cracking because of the coldness
i warn you now that no matter what you do it will end up cracking back out eventually. the only true way to fix this would be to cut out the rust and weld in new metal, or replace the panel. but..... if you absolutely dont want to do either of those this would be the way that would hold up the longest (still temperary). cut out any rust around your hole. any rust that is still there (should only be light surface rust if any) should have navel jelly wiped on it to kill it. let set for 5-10 minutes then wipe it off. take metal tape and stick it to the inside of the hole fuly covering it so it acts as a backing. you will then want to take fiberglass filler (not bondo) and spead it over the metal tape so that you cover the hole overlapping onto the metal. take 36 grit sand paper or a grinder and roughly shape it. put your body filler over that and shape it and there you go.
