Default Repeatedly blowing my interior light/accesory fuse!!

I have a 96 LS integra, all stock electronic wise besides an aftermarket cd player and i keep blowing my interior light/accesory fuse repeatedly. the last time it blew was last night, the car was running and i opened the door to get in and then when i shut it i heard it pop and sure enough my accessories quit working. is it a short in the door jamb switch? my boss told me the most common thing that causes that is a short in the cig. lighter but i dont even keep the lighter part in there. any ideas?

judging by what you just said about the door, i would start at the door jamb switch.

a way to make a tester, os to get an old school head light bulb. like the round or square ones. put 2 wires off the contacts. run them to the fuse box, the light will carry the load of the circiot and not burn up wiring. when you find your short, the light will go out.

aftermarket radios can do weird things...i have had aftermarket radios causing interior lights not to come on at all b4....unplug ur radio...replace the fuse and leave it like that for a couple days or just keep opening and shutting the door if it doesn't blow then there is ur problem...door switch is very possible but seen more with a/m radios then door switches...also ur door switch is a switch to ground so if it was grounding out then ur light would stay on all the time and if it was short to power than ur fuse would blow right when u put it in

I have to agree with cr8ter, it is unlikely to be the door switch, as mentioned it supplies a ground, [to the ICU] when the door is open, also as mentioned if shorted to ground the dome light would stay on along with door open indicator in cluster, if shorted to 12V+ fuse would blow when door is opened, not closed.

Check the white/red lead at the data link connector, also fused at fuse 3 - 7.5A, [hot at all times] in under dash fuse box. 94

If the fuse is blown the port will be dead, the white/red lead is 12V+ power, from same fuse as dome light, make sure the white/red lead is not shorting out to something, fallow the data port harness as far back as you can and make sure the leads have not gotten pinched off or something.94

indeed lol imma check that today. had class last night so i didnt have time. i locked my keys in my car after class too, had to use a coat hanger and a screwdriver to get in. scratched up my a pillar in the process. apparantly cops cant use slim jims to unlock cars cause of a "liability issue" WTF

fuse #3 is the one i keep blowing lol. it is a 7.5 amp fuse, and it is indeed hot at all times. so if i keep blowing that one i have a short somewhere? does that red/white lead come out of the port and run into the fuse box? also, my maintenance required light just started going off. my roommate is a tech at casey chevy and he said to hold in the trip button and turn the key on and let go once the light starts blinking but i cant get it to go off. any ideas?
