Default question about JDM EF front

What's up. I was just wondering if it was required that you swap over the radiator support in order to get the JDM front onto a 91 hatchy. I've searched for info but with no luck so far. Please let me know any and all info you got for me. I'm new to the 4th gen thing Thanks in advance, Pat.

For my CRX, they looked identical. I swapped it because my US one was slightly bent. I couldnt tell a difference. I dont know about the hatch for sure though.

I'm pretty sure you do...because since it's where the hood latches...even a few centimeters of difference will make it so you can't latch the hood...

So when someone sells the entire front and you get the "radiator support" included, is that just the upper middle piece WHERE the hood latches? and does that just bolt in on the bottom and top left and right sides like a "T"?? I've only had a 92 and a 99 and 00 civic thus far, and they were all 1 piece radiator supports that were welded together. Thanks for the replies past and to come. Pat.

No need to swap the Rad support but you have to put a washer on the latch to extend it a bit to match the hood. Here's a pic...
Thats an old pic and i since then made some adjustments and bolted em permanently.

is it difficult to change the RAD support? I still have the jdm carcass and wouldnt mind redoing the whole set up...besides that slight modification, everything works perfectly though...

with the ef9 front end you don't need to use the jdm rad support. I used the stock usdm rad support and put about 3/4 of an inch - 1 full inch of spacers behind it to push it out so it reaches the latch and then I adjusted the latch on the rad support to line up. I am not sure about the ef8 beacause I know that there are a few slight differences in the ef8 and the ef9 front end

with the jdm rad support and hood latch, how do you route the hood cable with the jdm hood latch, since the cables are routed to the passenger side (for usdm cars)

I'm guessing you unbolt the latch in the rad support and turn it around or usually the cable is long enough so that it will fit

the jdm hood latch part of teh rad support is the same part as the us just relocated in the support...teh cable does come from the right side and all but it loops around at teh front of teh vehicle so u can use the jdm latch also or unbolt it and bolt ut latch back to teh jdm latch either way it worked i tried both

Just unscrew your hood latch (2 bolts) and transfer it to you jdm hood latch or just keep the usdm all together they fit and work with no modifications. Then you avoid having to replace your hood latch cable too.

I took pics of mine 3 years ago - on a hatch, using the JDM center rad. support.
Look here: http://tjshondas.20m.com/jdmfront.html

All the parts are black now:
http://tjshondas.20m.com/sccivicsi.html

I wouldn't ghetto out the rad support with washers, even if it does work. I'd be more inclined to slot the latch mount on the hood if I couldn't afford the $60 for the JDM part.

As you can sort of see in the right hand pic, the hood release cable is no problem...don't worry about anything. It's ALL bolt on.
