Ls build questions??
ok so i found a Ls out of a 96 teg for dirt cheap....yeah i know sketchy. but im gonig to build it cause im tired of my sohc as of now. ive pretty much got the bottom end figured out on how im going to do it, but i need some advice on the head?? should i keep it non v, or go with a b16, gsr or what??? suggestions? oh yea im trying to keep this as my dd but i just want more power. thanks
Well LS/Vtec is fun and bada$$ but not the most reliable combo, so if u wanta go fast and have fun for a decent chunk of $ do the LS/Vtec and if u need steady reliability at a low cost the stay LS. Decide what u want more and have fun..
what is your budget like?
if it were me id start by building the ls block, run it and breake her in right, then pick up either a b16 or gsr head, maybe a lil pnp. i would run oem cams, whether there from the b16 or another car is your call, itr would be nice.

I'm personally running a bone stock b16 head, and the block has been completely re-built. Hot tanked, new bearings, ITR pistons, honed, etc etc, and I have almost 25,000 miles on this motor build now. I run this thing very hard too, pretty much 80% of the time.
turbo the LS with 10psi, reliable, cheap, Fastttt. and if things go bad and motor blows finding one is dirt cheap and you still have the turbo. i personally had one with 5psi and it was funn. good luck.

Just got the motor. But I planted on tearing it down and hot tanking it and cleaning up the cylinder walls just have to make sure the block is cool to work with. But I'm gonna run non v for a little while till I can get a head
Not sure yet if I'm going to bore it out, kind of waiting to see what kind of shape the block is in befor i get to crazy with anything. For internals i was going to go with eagle rods and idk on the pistons yet
