Default which ppg clear is better and why?

dcu 2021 or dcu 2042? i have 1/2 gallon of 2042 leftover from painting my other car and i can buy more of it or 2021. it will be sprayed on an allover job over dbc on a 94 civic hatch, bay jambs, everything. it will be sprayed in a booth with air flow going straight through(not up or down) and it will have to air dry(no baking). i am looking for a show quality finish! if there is a better ppg clear then please recommend. thanks

They should both give you the same quality finish. 2042 just has lower VOC's and faster baking times. Since you're not baking it wouldn't matter which one you go with but since you already have a half gallon of 2042 then just go with that. You'll get the same results with both. I think it's easier to run 2042 though. 2021 is a high solids so it's thicker and less runny. 2042 will give you a show quality finish. I've seen many patterned out, kandy coated lowriders with 2042 on top.

Talked to the ppg rep and he was telling me the 2021 clear is great but if you apply the 2002 clear you'll get a erection.Lmao.

to 2002. It's a polyurethane and has an awesome finish. The only thing is that it has a short cut and buff window. You can still cut and buff after the window but it gets harder the longer you wait. I also heard that PPG is discontinuing 2002 in the next year or so.
