anyone i've googled it and from what i've read so far all the mk/euro/ vw drivers are loving it so hmm.. but something is odd about the price. for $199 that is...

so before i waste $200 bucks in being a guinea pig throw in your .02 cents.

I don't see how it's possible that someone could make a kit for only $200 no matter what kind of volume they are buying them in. Even using the crappiest of crappy manufacturing practices and the cheapest labor in the world, MAYBE...

I think this is one of those moments that you simply write this off as one of those "too good to be true moments".

 

Well, other than "you generally get what you pay for", my main concern would be the spring rates.

Seems to include very soft rates, so probably not good for lowering much more than a lowering spring. I've also never seen a progressive front spring on a height adjustable suspension for a Honda before.

Including dust covers is nice though.

They also list them as being for "Honda Civic 92-00 CRX 89-91". Since the rear LCAs are different widths across that range, I'm assuming it would include the "washer stack" needed for the thinner LCAs.

Warranty also specifically states that it is only valid if installed by a licensed mechanic.

I heard of these a couple days ago and sent an email to them about the spring rates and this is what they said the next day.


I have read that they are only going to be this cheap for a while and when they get popular will be on par with the competition. Having this fast customer service is nice though. They are just copies of V-Maxx coilovers from what the vw people are saying. If you go to the V-Maxx website you can see that is fairly true. If you can put a 300ib or 350ib spring of the same size on them I would try them. I have read almost 10 reviews for these and 9 say they are great and 1 said that they suck. The person that didn't like them said they were way to bouncy at max drop and would bounce almost 4 times after the initial bump. He also had said he tried all the coilovers from H&R to other $1,000 kits to some other cheap stuff. I'm guessing the people that liked them just liked the fact that they had their car lower.

 

ahh icic so i take it they will have a price increase after their popularity increases.. hmm... investment? lol. i still wonder how long the shocks would last.

 

What is your reasoning for buying suspension parts? To slam the car?

 

yeah pretty much well i wouldn't say slammed but pretty low. im not looking into tracking it or anything i just need somethen better than my blow stock shocks that can give me a decent ride with a nice drop.

 

Just get some Koni Str.t with gc coilovers.

 

There's been a mixed bag of review on these coilovers.

My first impression were, "Those look like ****...".

A lot of Miata people are having fun with theirs. No problem at all. Kinda weird. The VW people seem to have some trouble. Why? I honestly think it's because all VW people care about it slamming the **** out of their cars. Causing stress on the coils and blowing them.

If you don't care for $200, I say go for it and be the guinea pig for Civic's. I am kinda curious how they'll hold up on a Civic and for how long.

seems to be somewhat ok of a setup purely looks and ride. It def. should be one hell of a comfy ride with those soft spring rates. Thats almost exactly a stock EM1 spring rate that they have. If your going for looks i say do it

I thought 92-95 and 96+ are different and aren't interchangeable ? Site Mistake?

 

They can be interchangeable, if a spacer/washer stack is used to account for the LCA width differences. Grinding down the bushing can also be done to fit the thinner LCA shocks to the wider LCAs.

I dislike such things though, as they feel like "ghetto hacks" to me.

 

use a 5mm washer on either side of the bushing and they will fit 96-00. They use a thinner shock mount bushing.

 

Gonna order today or tomorrow and ill let you guys know what i think.They are $200 so my expectations are extremely low. Have to be better than the eBay junk sleeves and blown shocks I Have now.

 

oh werd dope! lemme know how they are! if it looks good and rides smooth heck why not lol. im not tracking my car so dd would be perfect

i think they are purely a dumpage coilover. no type of tracking since they have the same rates as an EM1

 

Someone on the d-series site site that they are getting prototype springs with higher rates... 350/280 wouldn't be that bad, with 2-3in shorter springs.

 

The racelands coilovers look to be built pretty solid. Wonder how long these will last before the blow?

A buddy of mine at work has them on his vw gli and he's been alot of trouble with them settling diffrently. Also when he put them on he had some abs and axle issues. Don't know if it was all caused by the coilovers but it was never a problem until the installation. Hope that helps. I also was told by a rep for race land that if you put them on a ef that you would have to change the control arms off a eg but to put them on a eg there would not be any issues. In that instance Along with the price I just feel that they kinda janky imho. They also said that the reason that they are inexpensive at the moment is to introduce the product to the scene. But who knows

 

you change the front forks to EG, how is that janky? The stiffer springs are still in the maybe stage, if they do come out with them, id rock em
