IAT Sensor burned!!!!!!!
I am running a 97 integra type r engine in a 89 CRX with a full 95 civic ex body & engine harness. I am currently getting code 10 which is the IAT sensor. I checked the sensor and it was burned, so I went to the junkyard and got one from a 94 honda civic coupe single cam engine. I installed it and still got the code, then I took the sensor out again to check and the tip was burned up. Why is this happening?

The car will run fine without a lot of sensors plugged in. This is intentional since sensors (like anything else) have a finite service life. If the sensor dies, the car still needs to be drivable for a short period of time.
O2 sensors, MAP sensor, IAT sensor, etc.....they will all trigger a limp-home condition but the car will still run (albeit poorly). so no vtec

Check for the IAT sensor wire color codes. For 92 and up I believe it is red/green/yellow. If you plug the wrong plug on the IAT sensor, then it will fry up your IAT.

I got to get a new IAT sensor tho.....
switching those connectors results in the part that powers the EVAP purge in the ECU to blowup.
Having this part gone does not set a CEL, nor does it run the car any differently. You will simply not have EVAP functionality. Not a huge deal for some of us.
A quick smell of the ECU will tell you if this part is damaged.

Well I took a wiff of the ecu and it was fine, but that po6 is my Guinea pig, so I don't care if I fry it. I have my chipped p28 chilling there till I get everything sorted out.
I have same problem, the IAT is burned, it melted plastic bits. unfortunately the ecu is also fried. the cause. I accident switched the iacv and iat switch around. there are 5 switch that look exactly the same.(IAT, ICAV, PS, IAB,"only b18c5" evap, knock sensor) you should sort it out with the wire color. good luck!
