Hello all,

Just ended up with my third Civic in the driveway. 1999 DX Sedan, 5-speed, that belongs to my girlfriend. Car needs some help.

Firstly, she's run into just about everything with it. Needs hood, fenders, inner fenders and a bumper cover. This is my first question: Where's the cheap Civic parts at? I'm a Mustang guy and I know there's a couple of Mustang-oriented scrapyards that deal online and have just about everything. I'd like to buy these parts OEM or whatever, hopefully in color and avoid painting. Is there a place out there doing this sort of thing in Hondaland? Also, I don't need EXACT parts but what years will bolt on this thing?

Secondly, someone stole (broke) the center part of the dash where the radio and heater controls are. Is that section a commonly available scrapyard part, what years would be similar to this car, and what kind of ordeal is there in replacing it? The heater controls are still there, they just ripped out the larger part that housed the radio. How much can I expect to pay for that part?

Also, the car is throwing a code for O2 sensors and has an exhaust leak. How many O2 sensors should this have? I see one in the top of the exhaust manifold and one at the bottom near the bend. Will there be any more farther down the pipe? I'm thinking of replacing the manifold and catalyst because I think that's where the leak is.

I'm not looking to make a sweet ride out of this, just return it to respectable so I can get another year out of it. At least a winter. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated, if I can't sort this thing rather quickly and easily it's going to the scrapper and I'll just go buy another newer car. Thanks in advance!

 

'99 - '00 fenders, hood, bumpers, trunk, headlights, tailights are all interchangeable. '96 - '00 doors are interchangeable. The heater control bezel needs to come from a '99 - '00, IIRC it requires pulling the dash to replace it. It should have 2 O2 sensors.
