Front End Accident Damage on 94 Del Sol
Hello all ... Today on a really crappy rainy day i got into a rear end accident ... had quite a bit of distance but my car just slipped to the rear end of an suv.
Besides the broken accessories like the passenger headlight, broken radiator, leaking power steering fluid etc ... the major damage is on the front crossmembers that are shown on the last picture after i took the car apart. They are the parts on the this link http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...COMPONENTS++(1)
On the website it shows that they are separate parts when in reality the parts listed as 3, 10, 6, and 2 on the drawing seem to be welded as an entire assembly. Does anyone know how these can be replaced? Or if this whole section has to be removed?

I own exactly this same car!
red EG2. . . . WOW. You just made me that much a safer driver, this is depressing!!!
Where your tires balded out? How did it happen?
When I had a small accident in my del Sol, I found a red 93 del Sol for parts. Maybe you'll do better if you buy a junked del Sol and swap out the entire assembly, don't you think?

the thing you really need to worry about when wrecking a honda is the frame rails, which you lucked out and i asuming you went under.
it is one peice in the car and should be replaced as one peice, it is spot welded into the car, and should be spot weled back in. also 11 is part of the assemble as well.
it really isnt all that much work to replace one. you will need all body pannles and lights on the car and ligned up before you weld.

wow..sorry to hear and see your damaged car. but u should check to see if there is any frame damage to the frame rails. you may need a body shop to straighten it out. but this is a fairly easy fix for a shop.
yeah you definitely lucked out with bending your frame. but like they said it should all be one piece for your crossmember and radiator support. try googling it and see if anyone else has had a similar question

Thanks to all for your input ... I've received some help from the guys at honda civic forum. There's someone there that has done this procedure a lot of times. http://www.hondacivicforum.com/forum...986#post677986
As far as the welding does anyone know what type of machine I would need, and perhaps show me some more precise information as far as the technique used for welding it.
Also, how can I make sure that my frame is straight. Does someone know what type of equipment i would need to do this, and at what points i would check for this? I heard from a friend of mine that a laser could be used.
You guys are definitely correct that what saved me was that my car went under the suv, it was a jeep grand cherokee.
Also as you guys might be able to tell from the picture, the car had been in a front end accident before I owned it. I can see that some welding has been performed on the passenger side where the bulkhead member is welded to the frame, and there are other irregularities.
