Can I wire in a horn to my alarm that doesn't have a specific horn out put. I want to wire it so the horn honks when my alarm goes off. My alarm never came with a horn out put wire to honk the horns when the alarm goes off.
what he's trying to do is wire a pulsed output on his alarm so that when the alarm gets set off the siren that came w/ the alarm goes off as well as/in addition to a pulsed horn output...
my alarm came w/ a pulsed output that was negative trigger like most alarms.. I had to use a fused power and relay connection to convert it to activate my air horns while the alarm goes off.. its loud as hell w/ both the sirens and the air horns..
anyway since your alarm doesn't have a pulsed/auxiliary output I'm sure you can hook up a relay to use your parking light flasher on the alarm as the "switching means" and have your horn pulsed off that... just don't connect directly to the flasher relay as the horns probably take up too much juice..

Thanks GSRacebOI you hit the nail on the head, exactly what I needed. I called tech support and they said it couldn't be done, but your explaination makes a lot of sense and seems like a real easy install. Thanks again.

How can I tell if the alarm I am looking at has the "pulsed/auxiliary output"? I am most likely going to get it off the web or at the local flea market audio shop since my friend will be doing the install. Will I have to look inside at the wires or is this something usually listed on the box as a feature?
Thanks and excuse the ignorance!
Got to do this! People just don't pay attention to normal alarm sirens these days. But, I bet they look with sirens and air horns blasting
Probably going to look into something by DEI. Just a basic alarm since I don't have power locks / windows.

okay guys here is how to do it with most alarms.....and yes you horns may pulse upon arm or disarm
a relay ( DEI has a small wired one that very well )
a diode ( a 3 amp will do )
horns ( oem is cool...air horns are better..ever see the look on someone face when they bump your car and try to act innocent)
most alarm outputs are + for sirens and + for light flash so
86 siren
30 horn polarity ( pos or neg..what triggers the horn)
85 park lights ( the diode will convert the pos to a negative band facing the brain)
87 output to horn
when the alarm triggers it will have a on off pulsing horn...cool huh
more noise that is guaranteed to get attention
hope this helps....
