Default Advanges and disadvantages between differential 4.40 & 4.78

Hello, I have an ITR with rims 16 " Type-r, but I have the 4.40 differential and I want to put the 4.78 I would like to know their views.

With which of the two makes the car better time to 1 / 4 mile?

Thanks.

Watch the vid "Type R Legend" on youtube. There is no diff in 1/4 mile times between the 2 gearings.

However using the 96-97 or USDM 4.4 FD whole transmission the gearing is different all together if i'm not mistaken. 1-3rd might still be the same i'me not sure. But adding the 4.7 FD into that transmission I would think it would make the gears even shorter.

Adding a 4.4 will make it faster than it is now. Hes not buying a 98+ spec tranny hes adding a 4.7 FD to his USDM tranny.

you mean 4.7? I know he isnt buying the whole transmission but adding a higher final drive I would imagine it would put the gears closer together making what he has now bang gears even faster.

It might help or hurt. It could actually increase (worsen) 1/4 mile times, if it results in an additional shift before the traps.

That's what I was gonna suggest. I love that DVD! The only thing I would suspect would make any slight difference is if the 16" rims were on the 96-specR.
