Well the HID's I got weren't labeled and come to find out they're H4 not H3's and I planned on somehow fitting them into my denji housing... Before I go ripping everything apart, has anyone else tried this..?? I'd assume it doesn't have to just be a denji headlight, but any H3 housing converted to an H4..?? I've searched and came back with nothing, thanks in advance..

Yeah I mean, I've seen H3 housings converted to 9006 and I've also seen H3's converted to H1 and vise versa... But nobody's ever mentioned if possible to convert H3's to H4's...
H4s are at least 2x bigger, I think if you got them to fit the focal point would be way off. I say try it, if it doesnt work, you have a great headlight to retro with.

well I planned on retro'ing the Denji's with some TSX or TL projectors anyways so I guess I'll just give it a shot..
the focal point is already off by using HID in those projectors. without a retro, its just not gonna give you good results, H3 or H4. Ive seen those with HIDs and that output looked like 2 mini maglites taped to the front of the car

damn really..?? i've had some peeps PM'n me sayin they did it and it came out pretty tight with a slight adjustment of the denji's shields...
Trending Topics
yea some shield adjustment could make a difference. maybe even a completely new custom shield. but in stock form, i assure you its gonna leave a lot to be desired (and to add, thats the same for halogen...theyr just junk projectors all around)

yeah my silverstar H4's were way brighter than my denji h3's and i did originally buy my denji's with means of retrofitting them but I got let go from my job and my girls brother wrecked his car so i got his HID's, now i'm tryna make the 2 work as 1 lol... and yeah i bet a custom shield would be a cool lil DIY but I'd need to learn a bit more of what I can cut and stuff before I start hackin away lol..
best way to learn is just to buy a super cheap projector and just see how certain things work...step height, shield curve, etc. if you register on hidp, theres a ton of threads about this.

yeah i just created an account on HID Planet seems pretty resourceful I just gotta learn the in's and out's first... I'm still kinda on the fence about just using my stock harness with upgraded fuses from 10a to 15a... I have the relay harness, but I'm hearing I don't need to use it...
no, definately use a relay harness. ive seen the dammage HID ballasts can do to stock wiring. think if it like changing your oil...its a lot cheaper to spend $20 to maintain the engine than spend 3 grand to replace it.
those h3 projectors that come in those headlights are some of the biggest jokes ive ever seen. I used an aftermarket housing for my retro and couldnt believe how bad the output was from those stock projectors. even in halogen form, they were just plane horrible. The only positive side to it was the mounting holes were almost exact for my BMW projectors that went into their place
definately do some reading on hidp in the university section. lots of great info. just about everyone is eager to help.

heres a output shot for you. this is on one of those h3 projectors with hid. even with extensive tweaking, there is just no width. its kinda hard to tell from the shot, but pretty much where the color dies off at the cutoff is where the beam dies out. id say theres a max of maybe 10ft of width. clearly not the best way to do it...actually, pretty close to the worst haha
