Add on and performance parts
Was looking around eBay for some updates for a 89 Honda crx-hf, 1.5 liter d series block. The car for the most part is stock. Right now i do not know what kinda of mileage i get, he just got repaired. Is there a switchable prom? Saw some chips on eBay that claim to have horsepower and boost gas mileage. Look like boxes with wires and no real claims.
Looking at a cold air intake but after that kinda lost. Kinda need some info.
Thanks

do not waste your money on those little boxes on eBay. they're worthless.
get yourself an Si tranny. the hf trans is dog slow and you will feel a huge difference in newfound acceleration. a cai and exhaust system will help a minimal amount but if you want to make much more power then you are currently you will have to either boost the engine you have or do a motor swap to something better.

what is the diff between a 15 and and a 16? Looking to do simple mods. Money is tight right now, but i am patient.
Si tranny? have to look into that...man i am such a noob....
Texas?...it is finally cool enough to do this kind of stuff....The only thing i hate about this state is the heat

Capacity mainly. And the majority of the 16's were multi port fuel injected, where as most of the 15's are DPFI. Although i think the HF was the exception, combining MPFI and the 1.5L to improve fuel economy.

I think mine is single port... here is a look at the car....

check this site out: houston-imports.com/forums theres ALOT of honda **** there and people haggle alot with pricing. but the best bet would to trash that intake mani(***** TOO restrictive) and get an 88-91 si mani. that will clear up some air flow. but how serious are you about upgrading parts?

si trans will do wonders
its geared way better ch wont give you horsepower but you will go faster to a point
chips are a waste of money
cai are nice for sound imo
untill you have some supporting mods
you could do a whole d16/zc or even jdm d15b vtec
and these would be a very noticlbe jump in power
you could also do mini me tons of writeups and explanations on them google it.
its a vtec head on a non vtec block
i also think if you were to buy an intake mani and dont go aftermarket the y8 is the best flowing im not sure what it takes to install as far as vacum and egr stuff goes but it will bolt up, im sure theres a writeup on that
theres a lot you can do but the most helpful stuff is learning
reading and understanding what it is your reading
