Icon2 EP3 Overfenders/Flares and Other Questions about Auto-X and Chassis Bracing

I know they're out there but I can't seem to find any or where to get them. I'm looking for either CF or FRP fender flares that are EP3 specfic. If anyone has a link or an idea on where to look LMK, thanks HT.

Does anyone no where I could get in touch with Eric Moon (MoonSi)? I know he has flares on his EP or atleast he did.

Looks like I might need to start taking some measurements.

Ofcourse, if I end up doing this I'm only going to do the front and I wouldn't risk screwing up my car. My buddy actually for some reason has some extra fenders lol. So, I'm going to mock something up on those before I do anything to my stock original fenders.

I've posted about this before I think and I'm really interested in seeing how it turns out. I'll let you guys know what I figure out.

I would love to run 255's or 275's....thats why I have done so much reading on the topic.....I have also though about using a fender roller to make flares like this guy....

I've read that same article haha. I was thinking about trying the same thing first because if it doesn't turn out that good I will just cut it off for the flares anyway. I think this is going to be my winter project.

Haha, I like the Nissan DIY a little better lol. I think that might be a little safer in the conservation of the actual fender haha. The pulling I think would distort our fenders, maybe with the combo of pulling and rolling would help but that seems like quite the process to me

How about this, you roll and pull and I'll flare?

Those are pretty good looking, I think I would try the fiberglass ones. A little easier to modify if needed I think. I'm really contemplating those, good find.

Oh and as for the m80... I'll leave that one to you lol.

Also, do you have a Miata? You seem like you would be part of that Miata track crowd, and almost everything you reference has involved them haha.

These ones are a little too beast haha.

Would you be interested in splitting the cost for the fiberglass ones because I only want fronts and it's $255 for the set of 4. Or were you thinking more about the set of 4 for yourself, or even CF. LMK, it's just a thought.

I am still on 4 bolt wheels these days, for wheels that would need flares( 9 or 10 inches), I would need to go to 5 bolt......so I am in no hurry if I ever go this route. I have just though about it alot.....My current mod path is more along like biulding a usdm type-r car with all the power and handling of a 2nd gen dc5-r....with out beating my self to death dd the car. My research on the topic has really yelded some interesting info, I might throw togather a thread on the topic on my forum of choice when am done with the suspension and bracing....

But back yo your project......you are going to need to decide on the wheel and tire combo first. That will give you the overall diameter that you have to clear. After you make this decision, you need to get you wheels off with jackstands under the lca's so the car is sitting level. Then get some string out that is 2-3 inch longer than 1/2 of your overall dia of the wheel and combo. stick a nail on one end of the string and a marker on the other end of the string. Put the nail in the center of you hub and swing the ark....this ark is how much of your fenders you are going to have to remove to clear the tires as they go through their travel....It is also the mesurment you have to look at for mounting the flares.....a quick way to figure out what you need is look at cars with close to the tire dia as you plan on running.....thats why you should be looking at the 3rd gen mx5 miata.....the first gen miata and s13's are runing wheels in the 22-24 inch range....If you want 255's or 275's....you are looking at 25-26 inch tires.....hope that helps.

That really does help a lot actually. I hope you put together something here but either way, let us know so we can check out the info. I've also read up a lot on this subject as well but not nearly as much as you have haha. I've heard of that nail and string method and hopefully this winter I'll have to time to really work on my car.

On a side note, there is actually a lot of wheels out there that are 4 lug and have that much width. That's not including custom wheel companies like CCW that cost an arm and a leg.

well, I have not found those....seems 7.5 inchs is the limit for a 4x100 wheel in the 16-17 width I need for my 12.2 inch wilwood brakes.

I had pretty much come to the conclusion that if I was going to do flares, for the front I would buy 2 aftermerket fender for each side and cut them up to make some 1st gen m3 flares....I would just get some extra rear quartor panels and do the same there.

Well, off the top of my head Keskin is one wheel maker. I almost got some 16x9's from them but decided not to until I figure what I'm going to end up doing to my car. A lot of German brands seem to have these mainly because older Bimmers and Jetta's were 4x100.

Here's what I have been contemplating for myself (and I would need 5 lug for these lol)...
17x9.5 +32 Weds TC105N's with 275/35 or 265/40's for the front,
17x8.5 +32 Weds TC105N's with 245/40 or maybe 255/40 for the rear.

The rear would take some rolling and pulling and then I would just flare the front.

Just curious but what wheels are you running now. Actually, I don't think I've ever seen your car, would you mind posting pics? I would love to see your nice brake set-up

Oh, looks good. Are you still runnin' your a3 with that JRSC set-up or are you swapped? My Christmas present to myself will most likely be JRSC race kit w/K-Pro so I'm quite excited haha.
