LS Turbo build... head build questions
Hey guys, I plan on doing an LS turbo project. I just bought a plain LS head that I'm going to rebuild. It was all cleaned out so it's good to go. My HP goal is around 250 to 300, so nothing insane. I just have a few questions on the parts!
I am trying to decide between brands. Which brand will get the job done for the least amount of money? I don't want to cheap out, but I don't need parts that will handle 600hp when I'm only shooting for 300. Also, what aftermarket parts will be necessary to buy vs OEM (Valves? ect.) I have searched honda-tech and found a few threads but nothing that helps. If this has already been posted before sorry just send me the thread and I'll read more into it. Thanks for your help!

You can make 350/400whp on the stock head but if you want to make it on less boost then heres some ideas of what you can do.
Brian Crower valve springs and retainers-350$ I THINK
Pnp the head 200to1000$
Stock valves with 5 angle valve job-200to400$
Brian Crower cams 402t/404 350$
edelbrock intake manifold
Thats the setup thats on my race car but it has the 404 bc cams
You could also send the head to portflow and have it done for about 1200$ but it would flow really good and if you ever wanted to build the bottom end you would have the head for it which your going to want more power we all do so pick one or leave it stock.

i got my supertec springs/ retainers, and valves for about 475. but it was on a hook up from a friend at a local shop in houston. the pnp i got was free(about 4.5 or 5 hours) because a friend of ine needed a favor from me and he repaied me back. the cams are about anywhere from the 175 to 400 range. i like the itr's tho
Well I was going to do a rebuild because my LS just hit 230K and I feel a little sketchy turboing it. It is my daily driver too lol. I bought an LS longblock from this dude for $100. It has 70K but a blown headgasket. I was gunna use the block from it and put my built head on it. (Seems fine, maybe just overheated? I gotta get it checked out!)
So 300HP can be reached on a stock head? (I am new to FI so I'm learning as I go. I've been around all motor so much I thought I would try an LS turbo project.) I've noticed that people generally run 10 pounds of boost and get 250-300 HP out of it depending on their other mods. I would like to have a somewhat reliable LS turbo, so that's why I wanted to build the head. Built engine for low boost. I can always turn it up also for even more HP. Seems like Brian Crower internals are pretty popular so far. Anything else?
