Default Helicopter sound when I steer

Hey guys,

I have had this wierd helicopter sound coming from underneath my car whenever I steer or turn, its more intense when I turn or steer to the left. Also the faster I driver the faster the helicopter sound gets. So I replaced the axles and inspected the wheel bearing at that time and found everything to be ok but it is still making that noise. What could be the issue here? Tie rods or what? Did anybody else have this problem? Any input would be appreciated.

check tie rods as well as ball joints.. see if they are going bad.. if thats not the case, then check your tires and see if you have any air bumps that are caused by over inflation or bad tires.

is the sound dependent on speed? faster as you drive faster?
then, its either your tires hitting something or the bearings are going out.

Oh, do you have power steering??

its your right front wheel bearing goin out (passenger side front)..the wheel bearing can make noise without having play..and since it get louder when u turn left your puttin more pressure on the right side so it get louder

Yea thats exactly how it sounds like its not a clicking or anythign its a loud thumping noise that gets faster as I speed up. Me and a friend took the tie rods off the steering knuckle and i could basically weave all over the place I think the ball join in it is going bad but could that cause a noise like that?

And yes I do have powersteering.

dont waste your time and money on tie rods..they will not make that sound...they only make clunking sounds like a low rubble..its your wheel bearing..but it could be in the rear that is a possibilty

Alright I was thinking to just replace the whole steering knuckle/spindle assembly with a low milage unit instead of getting a new bearing and having a shop press it in, I asked a local shop and he wants 120 for the service plus the bearing will cost me like 30. Anybody else went that route?

It may be simply that there's more to your car; something more than meets the eye

Yup thats exactly what I was thinking...this may be the cheap...non-PITA way. But getting a used knuckle may bring problems on its own too.
