Default Axle install went wrong.

I was installing a new passenger axle for my 95 integra ls, have done it numerous times before, never had an issue.

greased up the axle lightly, slid it in, couldn't get it to lock in, tapped on it, still couldn't get it to go in..
pulled it back out, tried a few more times, decided to call my buddy to come over and help.

I checked the splines on the axle (it was a new reman from advance), and checked the splines in the diff, everything looked good. circlip looks good..

He comes over and starts helping, we are a little more forceful on the axle this time, and now I can't get it out.. I think the circlip broke, or I destroyed the diff.

It had about a half inch left to go, but I tried prying it back out for the past 4 hours, but no luck. pretty sure I almost pulled the car off the jackstands pulling on it.

any ideas?

CN: axle is stuck 1/2 inch out of trans on passenger side, can't get it in any further, can't get it out by prying either.

I feel like I did something retarded.
