weird noise from passenger side?
so i swapped in my 91 si tranny today. was pulled out of a wrecked si (was in a front end collision, minor but insurance totaled it out). any ways got it all back together, and noticed this weird noise, similar to like a two stroke dirt bike or something. here's a video of the noise. the car wasn't making this noise before hand. i say this because i changed my clutch due to the spline difference.

i think it might be the throw out bearing, because when i first start the car it makes a slightly different noise, but when i push the clutch pedal in the noise goes away, untill i start moving.
i am going to replace the TOB with a KNOWN good one, and the pressure plate with a known good one as well. and if i can get it off i know my pilot bearing needs to be replaced too

Its hard to tell from your video but i always look at the throwout bearing first in situations like this, especially if the noise changes when the clutch is engaged.
When you pull it apart inspect EVERYTHING to be sure, and dont forget to grease the pilot shaft.

well today i'm going to work on installing my known good pressure plate and a known good throw out bearing. i think it's possible i installed it wrong, but idk we'll see.
im having a similar problem with my tranny aswell, but it seems my pressure plate and clutch might be stuck, but alot of people are saying check the throw out bearing, I have to rip the tranny apart
yeah checked that, i replaced my pilot bearing and pressure plate today, and i checked my throw out bearing, spins smooth as butter, doesn't bind or make any noise when spun by hand, was told it was brand new so... idk. it still makes that noise, but it is quieter. i think this winter i'll just have it rebuilt if i get a job (still trying and looking). but if any one else has an idea i'd love to know. thing pulls HARD for a single slam 1.5l just not quietly.
The main input shaft bearing is what is making the noise. save up for that rebuild.
for saving an Si trans. Slap in an LSD while you're at it

hell yeah. no need to throw out something that isn't totaly bad, plus either way what's the point of buying ANOTHER used si tranny.
ok so what do you guys think, i found this thread, not sure why there's so much **** in it, but it's pretty detailed... http://www.civicland.com/forum/gener...t-bearing.html
any ways i'm thinking, what if i just replace the imput shaft bearing now, and replace the rest later?
