ITR spoon crate motor B18c help..
I bought a itr spoon crate motor, it didnt come with crank pulley i wanted to know if i can safely use an anorthodox crank pulley... because there have been a lot of people that told me that it wasn´t safe to do so... help please---
Just curious...how much did this "spoon" motor set you back?
Thanks
well if you have a real spoon motor, that means it all internally balanced, and you dont want to mess that up and put on a regular crank pully that hasnt been balanced with the rotating assembly, your less expensive option whould be to buy a ati pully or a fluidamper, little more expensive is buy a new oem itr/gsr crank pully, pull your rotating assembly take it all to a machine shop and have it all balanced together and then reinstall with new bearings
there's no point in pictures it is not visually different then any other itr motor, its just a stock itr motor thats been disassembled and reassembled with balanced internals and rechecked tolerances and clearnances, they dont have much if any more power, there designed to compete in endurance races so they need to be able to take abuse for a long period of time and be strong

I dont know why everyone thinks the little rubber ring in the stock pulley has something to do with engine balance. It is a noise isolator and nothing more.
All B18's are internally balanced, hence stock pulleys do not have a weight imbalance. In theory it would be nearly impossibly for the 4-5 lbs stock pulley to be even close to as balanced as the 1 lbs Unorthodox pulley.

1. No, spoon does not paint the engine code stamp.
2. No they do not apply a plaque to a B18 (R Spec Motor), as a matter of fact, spoon r motors dont even have a serial number on them.
3. The motor in your pic is a B16-B Civic Type R motor, not a DC2-R motor.
to add, Spoon motors also do not come with a yellow spoon valve cover, just an OEM JDM Red Valve cover.
they look from the outside to just be a JDM R motor.
Here, AGAIN is mine, from Spoon, through OPAK racing (NA Spoon Sports importer) shipped direct to me.

and as a final note, if someone really has 7K burning a hole in their pocket, IM me and come and get mine
The factory puts that paint color on the engine code.
They do put plaques on them now, its right on spoons website. That B16b looks like the real deal to me. Also, some have serial numbers and some do not.
there just bone stock itr motors, they dont really make any more power, maybe 3-5 from being balanced, but they wont drive or react any different then a oem motor, internals are just balanced and everything is rechecked and setup perfect so it will last for long races
