Default Viper 5002 - Join H1/8 and H1/9 wires?

1998 Honda Civic EX Sedan 5-Speed
Viper 5002 alarm system

Total beginner here....

I'm not sure about this part...
Can I splice together H1/8 and H1/9 wires and connect them to the domelight (LT. GREEN/RED)? If so, where can I tap into this wire? Do I need a relay?

I read in causeforalarm; "First check the alarm manual to make sure the domelight output isn't listed in mA. If it is, you'll need a relay if you want to connect the domelight. If it's a regular negative output, you can tie it in with the door trigger wire."

Thank you.
Joseph

I would use a relay to switch the ground to a high current ground. If not the light will glow weak or you could burn out the dome light output on the alarm. I have done this on a old alarm of mine. Especially if you use one of those bright high output lights in your dome light

Your information is correct. If its in ma use a relay.

I could not find anything related to the domelight and mA in the Viper manual...so I could join both wires and a relay would not be needed?!

If I was you i would use a relay. All dei alarms are 200ma output. If you blow that circuit dei will charge you to fix it and will not warranty the brain.

So I understand...run both wires separate ...

1. H1/8 to door trigger (-) LIGHT GREEN/RED....no relay.
2. H1/9 to domelight LIGHT GREEN/RED ... relay.

Confused.
1. Both door trigger and domelight wire colors are the same.
2. The Viper manual says [H1/9 Black/White Domelight supervision Relay Output #30] This mean there is a built-in relay? So no relay needed?

Thank you for responding.

o snap. I forgot your alarm is the 5002. Ground the input for the domelight supervision and tag the black/white and green wire at the same spot. It has a built in relay.

wrx-killer-Sti-eater, thank you for your help and patience.

I do not understand the above, could you please elaborate a little bit more on your instructions?

Thank you again.

If those wires are 1 for the door switch and the other lights the domelight then..I had trouble with those exact wires on my viper. Ended up not using the domelight supervision. I kept popping the domelight fuse. I think I put both wires on the same side of the light as the ground. ( or spliced together). Didnt want to troubleshoot it for such a little feature, so I just capped the wire.
Think mine is a 3002 alarm..

No problem, I just pulled up your diagram. On harness h3/a there is a black wire with a white stripe. Ground that wire. That is the input for the domelight supervision output wire. When you ground that wire it provides ground on the output side. What ever you put on that wire will be whats coming out on the output. Since your car has negitive door locks just tag it to the purple wire with the fuses on it and ground them toghter.

Then all you have to do is tag both the green negitive trigger input and black/white domelight supervision output toghter and tag both to the door trigger wire.

wrx-killer-Sti-eater,
Just so I understand, I'll repeat back in my own words.

Door Lock Harness (7-Pin H3)
Solder H3/A (black/white) to H3/G (purple)...run single wire and ground it?!

Primary Harness (12-Pin H1)
Solder H1/8 (green) to H1/9 (black/white)...solder to "door trigger wire" (light green/red (-) in the drivers door sill?!

What exactly will the above do? Thinking it will set the alarm off if any of the 4 doors or trunk are opened?!

Will the above allow me to control locking and unlocking the doors via the Viper remote? Will it also allow me to open the driver door with a single press, second press the other doors?

After this, nothing else to do on the Door Lock Harness?

Thank you once again, your help means a lot to me.

-Joseph

On the door lock harness. depin the white/black and brown/black. Ground the purple wires with the fuses and the black/white toghter. The green and blue wires left on that harness are now your neg output door lock and unlock triggers.

Now on the h1 harness tag the black/white wire with the green wire and tag both to the door trigger in the car. When disarmed the black/white wire throws a ground source out that turns on your door light.

Presto and your done.

Got it...finally. You have the patience of Job.

Problem is I do not have the alarm before me, was in the trunk of the car. I just saw the wiring, I see both purple wires fused together, now understood.

Thank you wrx-killer-Sti-eater, you're a good guy!!

Peace.
Joseph
