Default D16y8 into a Del Sol

I have a stock 5 speed del sol with the d15b7

To do this swap, I've come up with these things that need to be changed:

1. P28 ECU
2. Rewire Y8 dizzy
3. Vtec solenoid
4. Wire to ECU for VTEC

What happens to knock sensor, and is there anything I'm missing that I need to do for this swap? I can keep the b7 IM or use the y8 one, which ever one's easier (and more power).

I just got a 94 del sol with a y7block/y8head swapped into it, and it was a freakin mess in there, I got on this site and civic-eg mostly for info! lots of good stuff in the stickys, but I can tell you right away what you are doing.

first things first: our cars are both OBD1, the Y8 engine is an OBD2 engine. basically, it just has a bunch more sensors. the P28 ECU we are running is OBD1, it is just going to ignore a bunch of stuff from OBD2.
you only need the y8 dizzy if you are going OBD2 all the way. the distributor and wiring harness from your d15b7 motor can go onto the Y8 exactly where they were on the b7, except for the intake air temp sensor, which has nowhere to go on the Y8 intake manifold. you can either ignore the sensor, or drill and glue the sensor into the #2 intake runner, or you can extend wires and mount it just behind your air intake filter.
by the by, yes, you want the Y8 intake manifold, apparently it's about the best intake manifold for the D's, I don't know myself, no way to test it.
the Y8 engine, assuming it is a whole Y8 engine, should have the vtec and oil pressure sensor already on it. those each run one wire to the ECU and one wire to ground on the chassis.

just so you know, I am currently driving my car with this configuration, so I know that it works.

Thanks for the info. It doesn't seem like much work then. Glad I could get a definitive answer, most stuff I found was "I think you need...."

For sure. it isn't all that terrible, mostly just connect things back up the way they used to be. have you checked out Civic EG yet? the how to section has an awesome Y8 mini me swap guide by TealDX, but all of his info works for us because the head is the defining thing when it comes to all the connections you asked about. his was by far the most useful information I found anywhere, and I encourage you to check it out before getting your hands dirty.
