Default rebuilding a d16

I'm considering building a d16 as my next car and just wanted to get an idea of how much the labor costs would be to do this. I know prices are going to vary but I'm just looking for an average price here.

I'm thinking of building it to hopefully run something in the 400hp range, so obviously stock internals aren't gonna cut it lol

I know that my local import/tuner shop charges like 800 bux to assemble a whole motor for you. Call your local places because I've heard anything from 300-2000 for this.

Don't let them know you have deep pockets, ask them to build a stock motor, then show up with tons of badass parts.

I don't know about you, but If I was to build a D block, I would just pick up a whole new D series long block. And build the motor my self, that way you can save A TON of money, and you will still have a car to drive.
just pick up a helms or factory manual, and a torque wrench.

I would definately do that if I knew what I was doing lol. I've always wanted to do it myself but never wanted to risk the money on a project like that. Is it really as easy as following a manual?

There is always a time to learn, if you have a manual, and your not a dumbass, and you follow directions there isn't alot of tools you need to put in parts for your D block, plus theres tons of DIY on here. gl.
