Final drive?
I'm a B series guy and I don't know much about H series transmissions. But I see people keep suggesting H2B kits for the H22's in civics and integra chassis. Why not put an aftermarket final drive and a good LSD instead?
If this should be in the transmission section, please move it, but I figured I'd get more responses in the Prelude forum.

If you already have the H22 in your civic / integra, than no need for the H2B mess, just bolt up the H-series tranny.
I have a 96 JDM R and I swapped in the 98 4.7 final drive and the car is awesome.
A pal of mine is going to acquire a H22A Type S engine and transmission. He's thinking about putting it in his auto EG6. Someone else told him to get the H2B kit and put a B series transmission.
I told him if he is not satisfied with the gearing, just get a shorter final drive from Mfactory or something. According to the online gear calculators, the 4.6 will give you speeds in each gear similar to a B16A transmission.
I just wanted to get feed back from any Prelude guys who have changed their final drive and their experiences.

Changing the final drive is the best mod imo, much better than bolt-on's. But be aware that you can't change the final drive in a Type-S/SH (trans that works with ATTS). The diff and ring gear are different from what'r in regular transmissions, so an aftermarket final drive won't fit.
Don't bother with a EuroR swap, or any transmission that comes with an oem lsd. Whether an ITR or H22, the aftermarket diff's are much better than the oem lsd's. Get a regular H22 swap from hmotorsonline and get the final drive and lsd from mfactory, or Quaife. The H2B option is equally good, hydraulic shifter is much better than cable, plus more gearing options.

I'm doing this with my 4g, obd1 JDM H22a w/T2W4, I just thought he might have wanted a real deal red top H22. Are the OEM LSD's that bad? My car is pretty much a daily driver that may see some track use in the near future. Would the T2W4 benefit much from having a aftermarket final drive with the gearing already so short? I mostly got the transmission for its gearing and thought that the LSD was a plus as well.

The Accord diff is a Torsen like the ITR, it's going to be useful. Not as aggressive as an aftermarket diff though.
T2W4 is nice since you get shorter gears but keep a "reasonable" (lol) 5th, as opposed to a final drive...but the ratios aren't *that* much shorter.

Some major cost comparing needed here.
What is this car being used for?
Depending on what is going to be done with the car, OEM LSDs may do the trick.
Its all $$$ @ this point.
$900 Quaife LSD
$600 MFactory FD
$5-900 H series trans
Not cheap, but neither is a nice B series trans and an H2B kit.
The debate about the B series Rod shifter vs H series cable shifter has more opinion put on it than many things in the Honda world, but a new cable setup with fresh shifter works very very well. I have read a little into the H2B and it seems like people like the Axle Angle more than any 1 thing about the swap. Its my strong opinion that a lot of people jump on the H2B bandwagon after failing[@driving] with an H series setup.
The One6 EG Hatch just went 11.8x with a stock EuroR motor/trans so it works very good for some people.
