is my clutch going bad
What's up all. So the last couple days i have been noticing that its hard to put my car in gear. It's hard to be at a dead stop and shift it to 1st. so as i'm driving to work today i cant shift into first. I was lucky enough to get it into 2nd to take off, but sometimes i had to take off from a dead stop in 3rd. The car doesnt slip gears, and i can take off from 3rd. So i dunno if its my clutch, or maybe my clutch cable is messed up. I have been tightening my clutch cable by turning the nut clockwise, but i have been twisting it pretty tight. Anyways i am at work right now and i still can't shift into first and my clutch pedal pretty much goes to the floor. I have never had a clutch go out on me so i'm new to this. If anyone has any insight on to what the problem might be please help me out. And please dont flame for not searching, as i don't have too much time to spend on the comp at work. Thanks for any help in advance!!
No it did not snap as there is still some resistance. there was alot more resistance the last couple of days. Today the pedal just feels soft. Has some but not alot of resistance. I was texting a friend earlier and he said you can tell if its going bad if the rpms go up but the car doesnt move, which isnt the problem. I am hoping i just need a new clutch cable.

i turned it clockwise which i thought was tightening it, b/c if i turned it counter clockwise it loosened the nut to where it was not tight whatsoever. is there a certain way to adjust it, like a minimum/maximum thing? also is there a place to adjust it on the pedal itself or is the only adjuster the one on the front of the tranny? thanks for the input!!
To adjust it properly tighten it until the free play in the release arm is almost gone but leave a tiny bit of free play (3-4 mm's or 0,12-0.16 in). You shouldn't have to mess with the pedal assembly but if you want to check it the free play for the pedal is 15-20 mm and the stroke of the pedal is 140-150 mm.
