When a thief is stealing a car (breaks ignition up, etc), are they still depending on the clutch safety switch (89-91) in order for the car to start/turn over? Or are the ways 'they' are starting the car bypassing that?
That is all.
That is all.
Wow what is with the people wanting to know how to steal cars on this forum lately. Of course there are other ways you clown. Stop trying to make this a place for people to get how to steal cars...

Hey wow, thanks! I'm trying to determine if it's worth while to put a kill switch on the clutch safety switch without directly asking the question. Nice username... but I'm the clown.
Nice user name to you too... you are the clown. Put a bypass all you want on the clutch switch. The car can still easily be started. Take out your ECU and the car can still be turned over... Do more research before you get all crazy.
You aren't going to stop a thief you can only slow them down; and a clutch bypass is not the way to do it... That is probably one of the most useless prevention methods. If they are already in your car you are screwed especially if they have time on their side. You need to think bigger and bypass more important things... (and no not the starter that is what the clutch switch interupts) that is all the hints I am giving you.

Lol. Thank you for continuing the insults, but then saving it with some useful info.
Turning the car over with no ECU? It won't run without a map/fuel signals, etc...
I was just looking for something 'easy' to add to my layering. You are right, if they have time, you're in trouble and need layers...
But if it's true that the clutch switch is one of the most useless, then I won't bother and I will impede other systems.

I don't see how the clutch switch is a theft deterrent at all.
If you think about the switch it's really not complicated.
It's common knowledge that you push the pedal, it touches the switch and the wires that go into the back of the switch get connected.
If you didn't want your switch then all you do cut the wires and hook them together.
Or jump the prongs in the connector together.
Now, if you put a kill switch on your clutch switch someplace then you would have yourself a theft deterrent.
I think your question would have been better phrased as "Is the clutch switch a good place for a theft kill switch?" Seems like it is - BUT - it doesn't mean somebody won't steal your car. All they need to do is find the kill switches... and if they want to steal your car they may just look for them.

Right. Obviously it would involve a kill switch, that's what I wanted to ask without being obvious...
ok i have a question on this topic i have a 95 civic cx that had an electrical fire i was given a wiring harness out of a 93 or 94 coupe with a automatic tranny. My cx is manual so i do not have the wiring that i would assume the ecu is looking for tell the clutch pedal is depressed how would i go about tricking the ecu into thinking that the pedal is pushed in? At the moment the car wont turn over.
my 91 honda civic si hatchback drives great just yesterday while driving i pushed clutch and made kinda like a grinding noise and now whenever i push it it makes same noise and e brake light comes on does anyone know how to fix it? please and thanks need car for tommorow morning and dont want to risk anything by driving it more
