Default 94-97 drink cup holders?

Just got our 'new' '96 Accord 4-dr 5-spd on the road yesterday.

Center console drink cup holders are too shallow - my tall mug tips over.

My wife uses a very wide mug; hope to find something to hold that also.

What solutions have you folks found?

Find a different mug, it certainly isn't a Honda problem

I regularly cart Dunkin Donut's extra large coffee in the centre console without incident. That is (of course) that I can cart but one at the time.

They cannot go any deeper from design, there's metal there.

Ah yes, but they can go higher.

I'm considering removing the swing-lift cover and gluing in a couple sections of PVC pipe or such. Somehow the cup holder assy is removable so I can revert to oem if we want later.
Or do the mods to a different oem cup holder and put that in.

Interesting point, that would only give you another half an inch or so I'd imagine - it's been awhile since I played in my 5th gen.

The stock cup holders just pull right out. Just tug upwards on it.

Width wouldn't increase much - agreed.

But I could put in as tall a section of tubing as I want - that should keep the drink from tipping over out of the holder. The trick is to do it so it's not ugly.

As an idea you *could* probably cut out the bottom part that cuts inward where there's a lip and use some PVC to make a new wider bottom, then extend the top upwards.

As another suggestion the Krylon Camo paint that's tan is a pretty damn close match for the interior tan color. It's meant for plastics too - I got some at Advanced Auto.

Pull straight up - thanks for the tip.
I hadn't yet figured that out.
Sometimes I'm kinda slow.
