Default tire sizing?

so i have been looking for wheels since before i even bought my R (over a year) lol. cant ever seem to make up my mind, but this thread aint about the wheels. i got some tires for free for helping out a buddy that had some poorly sized tires on his coupe. the tires i got are 205/50-16's Kumho tires. forgot the rest i can check later if anyone even cares. anyone even run this size tire on an R? from the tire posts i have seen people (nsxtacy) seems to recommend 205/45-16s and 215/45-16s. whats your opinion/recommendations on this tire? gives me a nice head start since i wont have to buy tires, just the wheels for now. work on tires later.

205/50/16 are too tall. Use a tire size calculator. Stock tires are 195/55/15. I believe the 50 series will be like a 2% difference.

that nsxtasy is right and 205 45 is the size to use. 215 is slightly taller but normally not enough to rub. 205 50 gears your car even higher and i suppose you could try them to find out but i wouldn't use that size

For 16" wheels, you want either 205/45-16 or 215/45-16. Both have an outer diameter within 1 percent of the stock size and shouldn't rub. 205/50-16 is bigger; that's the size for many years of Preludes and Accords. If they're free, you could try them out, but don't be surprised if they rub when cornering; otherwise, just use 'em up but get the 45 series when they wear out.

thanks! not what i wanted to hear, well i guess it is, i wanted the truth lol.

looks like the guy for the 16" wheels i was looking at flaked on me or sold them. so i will roll some 15s for a little longer. might just buy some tires for the OEMs. some 205/50-15 Azenis RT615s.

There are now some much better (stickier and longer-lasting) tires out there for the same money (Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec 195/55-15, Kumho Ecsta XS 205/50-15) as well as a few that are better but cost a bit more (Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 205/50-15, Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 205/50-15). The Tire Rack has a side-by-side comparison test of all four of these tires on their website.
