Icon6 Bought ITR Not Sure On Tranny (plz help)

hey guys, ive searched for this and got a few hits but not in depth what im looking for, heres the details.

I recently purchased a rebuilt acura integra type R that was pre-katrina.
after revising the car i noticed that the tranny wasnt stamped "LSD" so i proceeded to look for the tranny code. The code is stamped "Y80". I did some researching and i found out it could be a LS, USDM GSR, JDM GSR TRANNY. I immediately wanted to rule out it wasnt a ls tranny. i went out for a cruise, at 5th gear i was cruising at 80mph @4500 RPM. I think that rules out any chances of being ls since my other car "LS" hits 80 @3500RPM. With that said im left with either usdm gsr or jdm gsr. I was thinking about doing a quick burnout to see if both wheels would stick to the ground but i dont know if this theory would work like that to prove if you have LSD.
I dont want to take out the axles right now. I would like opinions from you guys to see what you guys think i might have. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks

you can always jack your car up and spin the wheels. If both wheels spin w/ each other, then you're tranny is LSD equipped.

i have never seen a y80 itr box. all are s80. you could pop an axle and check for the bar if you wanted to be certain. i thought y80 was an early gsr trans. somewhere in there like 96+ went to s80 on all models. the itr just had j4d lsd stamped but one steam clean would take it off. however, 80@4500 is b16 ish, still it's hard to tell the couple hundred rpm diff between the itr and gsr unless you're really use to either. the test i would do is the 1-2 shift. with a gsr box it's real easy to fall out of vtec if you spin it to 8400 and shift. the itr has a much closer second that drops to the mid 6s. i could check that tomorrow when i drive if you haven't figured it out

burnout is not a reliable way to test since an open diff will spin both on a flat surface. checking for the pin is what i would do. still, as others have said, y80 is early gsr like 94-95. i know in 96 they also got the s80 sticker.

False. Helical LSD will spin the wheels just like an open diff.

Only way to tell safely is to remove an axle and look in the diff.

that's what i thought to but the helms manual actually says they should spin together. It says if one wheel doesn't spin or spins in the opposite direction, replace the LSD. When i tried my car, the wheels didn't spin together, one stayed stationary. another way to test it is to jack up one wheel and spin the other with a beam type torque wrench. i dont remember the spec but it's in the helms manual.
