Default HELP! 2 radiators BLOWN in ONE day

sooo yesterday i was driving along down the highway going about 55 when i heard a small pop and then steams started bellowing out of my engine bay like crazy... it was so bad that someone called 911 and said my car was on fire... soo like 15 volunteer firefighters and a firetruck full of fire fighters show up hahaha.. anyways i quickly found the problem when anitfreeze was alllll over my engine bay, and the seal on top of the radiator had blown out due to pressure... luckily i saved me original radiator so i got a ride home, came back, fixed it in like 10.3 secs... then i drove it home and when i got home it started smoking again... soo i look and the same exact thing happened to that radiator tooo!! im not really sure whats wrong with it.. does anyone have any idea? it seems ike its getting to much pressure and just blowing.. idk what would cause that? a blown headgasket? idk PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!

sounds like the thermostat sticking is causing your pressure prob.

it more then likely your rad cap, it's designed to hold 14-16 psi in the cooling system, sometimes what happens is the springs get messed up in the cap and instead of releasing the extra pressure and fluid into the over flow tank it it just builds and builds until something pops. did you change the rad cap when changed rads?

i say faulty radiator cap, or just bad luck that both radiators were on their way out.

oh another idea this is a long shot... but check your hood clearance make sure that for some strange reason your hood isnt hittong the radiator.....

... what a shot in the dark lol

Is your overflow working? This happened to my buddy's car a long time ago and we could never figure out what was wrong. My guess was there was a clog somewhere in the coolant system.

But make sure nothing is clogging your overflow, like the hoses and crap like that

well if you blew one radatior ofc you need to change the cap otherwise your gonna get owned like you did. maybe you should buy a new cap, that should fix the problem. otherwise you need a new thermo for sure. And its possible that the temp went up more but you didnt notice it.

With the prices of the cap and thermostat are cheap enough to replace as a preventive maintenance. Last week, I replaced my radiator because the top seam was leaking. I put on new hoses and a radiator cap since it wasn't any extra work to so.

If it was a cracked sleeve or a really bad blow in the HG u can take off the rad cap and start the car and it will blow the coolant out the rad. I mean it will shoot it out too but in ur situation just get a new car and keep and eye on the temp.
