Default just rebuilt motor. not sure about break-in

i just rebuilt my brothers 95 z6 motor. put in vitara pistons and bored it .020 over. stock y8 head. we are going to turbo it.

now a few people have said to do a motor break in because i put new rod bearings and crank bearings. others have said to just slap the turbo on and get it tuned.

i wanna do this right. i'v tried searching. so what i wanna know is should i do the break in? and if i do how would 7.7:1 compression run on a stock p28.(probably really crappy) or if i should just turbo it and bring it to the tuner. it'll be tuned on s300. so what should i do? oh and i got that compression from the zealautowerks compression calc.

You should get a basemap done, and then take it to the tuner. I just did this, and went with the boost. There's all kinds of theories. The main thing you should be concerned with though, is a proper tune from startup, mainly fuel, conservative timing, then baby to the tuner, and let him get it going.

Unplug the Distributor crank car on and off untill you have oil pressure. Plug distributor back in check for leaks. Start car check for leaks and checkengine codes. If you have leaks fix them. If not let the car run blead the coolant and keep an eye on the engine. Let engine run until the fan comes on, recheck everything. Shut it down change the oil and filter. Check for leaks loose bolts and what not. I like to let it run for about 20 to 25 minutes. Rent a tow dolly or trailer drive it on to trailer, and tow it to a good tuner he will take care of the rest.
