Megan Racing Header, Any Good?
I am trying to make a decision on what header to buy. I want to go for a Vibrant or Skunk2 Meapower header, but both of those are wayyy out of my price range. I found the Megan Racing Header for $149 on corsport. 4-1 style, mandrel piping, stainless steel T-304, sounds pretty good, but i'm a bit iffy cause the price is so low compared well, to all the other manufacturers out there making headers. Does anyone know if the header is worth the money? Any dyno's out?
i have it and i like it, i feel a little bit of a difrence, i felt way more difrence when i had my test pipe, but i went back to stock cat because the test pipe was trowing a cell even with defaouler. But if you match this header up with a good test pipe you should see close numbers as to a races header, maybe 3 to 5 hp less. IMO. Im provably going to be getting T1R test pipe to match up with my megan header next hopefully that one wont trow a cell like the ebay test pipe.
well with hondas,
you gotta pay to play.
well if its in your budget then i would get it,
but ultimately if you save your money and get a
better header, you'll be happier.
i went from the dc header to the skunk2 header and
it was a night and day difference.

As everyone said, its a step up but there are better. I would wait until you have a bit more money and get a classic 4-2-1 race header. I'm personally saving for a BCRH...the research I did pointed me in that direction for build quality, sound and customer satisfaction.
I would get a 4-2-1 header over a 4-1 header if I were you. The 4-2-1 header has a much broader rpm spectrum. In other words, increases show up throughout the rpm range. The 4-1 header provides a better power increase in the higher rpms. Because of this, the 4-1 header is better for race applications.
Here is a very informative thread I found on the other site (8th gen):

Maybe Honda-Tech won't block the link this time since it points to a very informative thread which would greatly help the OP
....but probably not (that policy is very stupid btw)

I had Megan Racing Header on two d-series Civics and there were 0 issues with them...but like everyone is saying, there are better. Buy it once and buy it right.
Have you looked into the Strup header. I've seen mixed reviews but for the most part, consumers seem to be satisfied with them. Plus, they eliminate the cat...you just need the defouler.
Like the previous posts said.
Megan Racing is a great part for the money. Good gains, solid quality, and they actually have a great warranty.
If you want to step up, but take chances of CEL..hit up a race header application, where is eliminates the CAT

If you have time you could check out a thread on 8th civic . com (no space) called the mother of all headers in the bolt-on section. It's pretty long thread so enjoy but, it has many examples of what headers are out there for our 8th gens civics.
