help! is my clutch slipping? when i start moving from a stop
i did a jdm d15b swap back in august and everything has been perfect until now....i had put a duralast clutch in it because i got a new one for only 50 bucks...it has always felt INSANELY soft and ive bled it numerous times to make sure that wasnt the problem...but thats just how these clutches are i guess but its been fine since august. Now when i start going from first gear and im let off the clutch about half way the car starts shuttering/jumping and sounds like im almost losing traction or as if i start at too low of an rpm but im not... It feels like the clutch is slipping...it happens juust for 1 second but its very annoying and i want to know why the hell it would be slipping or if it is slipping???
just 2 weeks ago i noticed my cv boot on my axle tore and the grease went everywhere so maybe the axle being damaged could cause this??? i hope its the axle and not the clutch because i really dont want to attempt taking off the tranny and buying a new clutch. this just started happening 1 week ago...or 1 week after i noticed my axle cv boot ripped/broke.
let me know what you think it is.
thanks for any help

a leaking boot will only ruin ur axle overtime, and wont cause ur tranny or clutch issue.
a slipping clutch does just that. slips and not bounce jump rock or shake.
a slipping clutch is, ur clutch wore out or ur plate isnt clamping like it shuld.
a slipping clutch u would see ur rpms go up and speed get faster but ur car doesnt move at the same speed.
this a a bad clutch and needs replacing. esp if u only payed 50$ for it, theres ur problem.
i suggets go spending the 250$ on a good one and get a shop to do iit and you get work order receipts ;p

well then what is happening when my car starts studdering when i let the clutch off midway?? my rpm's arent too low it feels like something is jumping?? like wheel hop almost but not really its wierd....the clutch was brand new though so i dont see why 50$ should matter...
and im not trying to pay 500 bucks for a shop to put in my clutch.....
the only thing that seems shitty about the clutch is how soft it is...but if you said clutch slipping doesnt make anything shake then its obviously not slipping. but it feels like the clutch isnt grabbing or its like grabbing just a bit and not fully until the clutch gets let off more..which makes it studder?

Take off the axle and see if it's damaged.
But your clutch might be slipping as well. I have a very worn out clutch on my car, and it does similar things to what you're describing. My clutch is also old though; should have been replaced in '04, when I got the car. Did you resurface your flywheel when you replaced the clutch? Did you replace the throwout bearing?
