How do you check a CEL on an s2000?
Hey guys,
I was on my way to work this morning and my check engine light came on. The car still runs perfect, nothing happened when the light came on.
I've only been an s2000 owner for 3 weeks, so I'm not sure if there is a way to check a CEL other than an OBD2 scanner?
I'm coming from civics, where all I had to do was ground out the jumper plug under the dash.
Thanks in advance.

Buy a scanner you can get them for 80-100 bucks now, write down the code or codes and check them on a website. Good thing about having your own scanner is that you can clear the codes.
Thanks Kyle. I didn't know if they still did it or not. I went to autozone on my lunch break, it was the gas cap code. I opened the gas door and the gas cap was loose......doh.
Autozone then cleared the code, thanks!

Autozone is not allowed to clear the codes by law, at least here in MD.

white smoke is correct
you, the owner, can clear it though
p.s. it's not a good idea just to clear the ****. fix the problem, then clear it. the CEL will come back anyway if you just clear it.
