Ideas to increase mileage on stock D15B7...
I already know about all the hypermiling tricks, airing up tires, weight reduction, etc... I've searched and from what I've read everybody says granny shift, drive under 55 or air up tires to 50 psi.
Well I'd like to take it to the next level. I've been doing some thinking, what can I do under the engine bay to improve MPG? Already did a basic tune-up.
- Advance timing to 18deg
- Grounding kit (??)
- Cold Air (?)
- Seafoam treatment
- Synthetic oil
- ECU tune (?)
Any other ideas?

I must ask.
What is your motive for better MPG?
Impress internet people?
Save money?
Protect the environment?
The reason why I ask is:
It's a Honda it's already efficient and the tune from the factory is really fairly good for MPG.
My $0.02.

The reason why I ask is:
- Impress internet people: No one cares
- Save money: Money spent on mods will likely negate the few dollars you save at the pump even in the long run
- Protect the environment: Somewhat a plus here but mostly negated by cost and sourcing of parts

dont drive! you'll get all the mileage you want haha! j/p, you're already getting 35+mpg(city) and 40+mpg(highway) with that thing. why need more?

More weight reduction: lose your strut bar and anything else that isn't welded to the interior of the car. (seats, floor mats, etc)
Other ideas: take off your license plate and wedge it into the top of the dashboard to further streamline the front of your car.
May wanna lose the foglights and just fill in the gap with cardboard pieces
What else...oh, if you have a spoiler, lose that too
Big sound system? Lose it
If you REALLY wanna be extreme, you could lose your airbags, but that's kinda crazy and probably won't save ya that much weight
Go to aluminum 14 or 13 inch wheels-much lighter than stock steelies
And as for under the hood stuff...believe it or not, install a catch can/air-water separator or two-one for your vavle cover vent and one for your PCV valve
It may sound nuts, but the less liquid blow-by mess you suck back into your intake and foul things with, the better, plus if all you're pulling is just the unburned fuel fumes back into the intake, you'll get a little better gas mileage instead of venting it to the atmosphere.
Lighter Aluminum radiator to replace the Del Sol one you have there ^^
And lose the washer fluid reservoir/pump/lines
You could also probably relocate your battery to the trunk to balance the weight a little more and reduce drag on the motor/trans
As for other things, get a more freely flowing exhaust system if you don't already (preferably as light a weight as possible)
Beyond that, it gets extreme (as in cutting out parts of the car and buying carbon fiber hoods/trunks/panels extreme)

Not possible.
EDIT: Unsubscribed. Waste of time.

The higher octane fuel literally does NOTHING for you. Don't waste your money. Higher octane is used in engines that require it, such as high compression builds or factory performance engines. If I'm not mistaken, almost all of Acuras new lineup requires premium fuel. Higher octane prevents detonation, but in your engine it will make zero difference.
Save your money.
what the hell? who says its cleaner? octane rating is its ability to resist detonation, not that its cleaner or anything. dont listen to whoever is giving you this horrible info
They just started putting ethenol in the gas around here less than a year ago. It reduces fuel mileage, luckily only 1 supplier is mixing ethanol right now so I can still get gas without it. Also, if it's in 87 it's in 89 since 89 is just 87 and 91 mixed together.
Basically, just do the basic tune up. If you have high mileage consider using a thicker oil. Those fuel treatment kits are pretty much garbage in my book. All the do is bring up **** from the bottom of the tank and ensure a timely clog. Smaller tires will increase your mpg as well. Just my 2 cents. It all adds up.
In my neck of the woods all most all gas has a ten percent ethanol. I buy premium for my y7 just because mobil and shell have ethanol free ”recreational” gas.
