Default People using OBD1 computers with their type r's, what did you change

I am plannig to use an OBD1 computer with an 01 type r motor. What has to be changed to make it work. I will be using the OBD1 harness in my GSR. I assume I will need OBD1 fuel injectors and distributor. Anything else??? Or can I still use the OBDII injectors and distributor...

All you really need is the obd2 to obd1 conversion harness and the ecu needs to be chipped w/ a programed chip. The chip is up to you, but contact "Kenji", he'll hook you up with a good program. He's the shizzna.....

or purchase a JDM Type R ECU

Or get an aftermarket one from:
Mugen
Comptech
spoon

Just to name a few
It's not changing what you have on the car you can get an ECU that will work well with a stock set up or you can get one that works best with a:
header
intake
exhaust

Set up, or even more radical than that. It all depends on what you want to do.

I already have the computer and I have 4 chips, mugen, skunk2, PYR and vision. I just wanted to make sure it would work with an 01 motor without having to change anything. This motor is going into a GSR with OBD1 harness so the injectors have to be OBD1 type as well as well as the distributor. I guess I could modify the 01 distributor to OBD1 spec but don't know what is involved... I was asking on the type r forum since it would ebe similar except for the OBD1 harness....

I've used the mugen N1 ecu and it works fine on a 00 Type R

Oh forgot to add: If your using a racing ECU like the mugen the changes you need to make to the motor is loose the power steering and A/C

I used a conversion harness and it works fine without altering anything else. Nothing more.

Umm... so it's a 01 motor, with an obd1 harness on it, and you want to run a chipped obd1 ecu with it? obd1 civic/integra injectors are the same electrically as obd2 civic/integra injectors, they just have slightly different connectors on the obd1 vs. obd2 harness. so it doesn't matter which injectors you use, my obd1 p28 with skunk2 program controls my completely obd2 b18c5 motor, injectors, distrib, etc...

Your 01 teg distrib will not plug into your obd1 harness, just sell it and get an obd1 distrib so you don't have to cut up any harnesses to run your obd2 distrib with your obd1 harness.

Thanks, I already have the OBD 1 distributor. Do the OBDII injectorws still plug into the OBD1 harness or do I need to use my OBDI injectors as well.

There is no need to change the injectors or the distributor all you need is the OBD2 to OBD1 harness and OBD1 ECU.

Kenji,

I have always wondered about this, but how involved is the harness? Is it just 2 ends that simply plug in, or do you have to destroy your ODB2 harness to match it up to the ODB1?

Thanks,
Tom

Correct if he is running an obd2 harness on his motor in an obd2 car. if he wants to run an obd1 harness on his motor and have everything plug in normally without having to hack the harness up, he needs to change out the distrib and injectors 'cause the obd2 vs obd1 plug types for those items differ. Correct me if I'm wrong.
