You only have one cam and one cam gear so you need that of course, then you need ti retainers and dual springs to run the cam. You'll need a tune so that means going obd1 if you havent already. And you'll idle really rough for dd not toention you'll lose your fuel economy. You'll still be slower and more expensive than a b18b swap
Money down the drain. I hate to break it to you, but if you searched you already know...all motor single cam builds are a joke. At least the parts you have already can easily be adapted to a b-series swap except the header.

Single cams can be fast, but it will be money down the drain, not a fun DD, and still wont be any faster than a B swap.
Just either turbo it because we all know D series loves it and call it a day.

i'll let you decide the pros and cons and what you "should" do with your own car since i don't really care...
to answer your question: what you need is a stack of cash, an innate urge to go against the grain and login credentials for a few of the single cam specific forums -so you can see what other guys have had to go through to make power.

what i need to do is look up pricing on both i was thinkin bout going at least b-series but i only got 8 racks to spend on the car..i dnt think i could find a b18b with tranny, mounts, harness, links, axles..do i need the ecu if i was gona go b18? or can i use the one i have?

you cant tune an obd2 ecu.
get a conversion harness from obd2 to obd1 with a chipd p72 or p28
ITBs are $700 but can help with those..i mean that cam. with a super header and a tad more compression, that is alot of money spent when you will be as fast as a gsr motor....

I speak from personal experience when I say it's just not worth it. I spent alot of time and money on my d16y8 and was never happy with it. I've gone through multiple cams, I had the engine rebuilt with higher compression, I had the skunk 2 manifold, cam gear, ecu work, a whole new fuel system, i/h/e...the list goes on. I never got out of the 16 second bracket, except when I was on spray. The car also ran incredibly rough and had constant problems regardless of the tune, and those transmissions can't take a beating like a B can. Learn from my mistakes and do a swap or go turbo. I have a stock gsr now and it pulls harder than my d16 ever did. I wanted to be different, well sometimes different is stupid. Boost your car.

then you can buy a chip from ebay and have it made to your specs $20 (i/e/h etc)

there is no brand. radio shack sells them but they will have empty data on them.
theres a guy called xenocron or somthing like that he makes chips and send them to you and you can plug it in the socket in the chipd ecu and the ecu will have a new program

good lookin out..im checking wrecking yards right now for b18b swap see how much more i need to get on..and one more thing would the mount of the b18 fit or would i have to look in to conversion mounts?
