i really want a better sound in my car.
I have a 96 civic dx with a 99-00 climate control w/SI stereo conversion
and well i wanna keep the look of the stock-ness (lol) but still want a bigger sound.
I want to throw a KENWOOD KDC-MP642U and place it by where the cup holder stands
my question is ... if i install the kenwood unit will my stock unit still light up?
If not i will sell the SI unit and place a oem cover over it.

If you send power to your stock hu and disconnect the speakers it will still light up with no sound to the speakers.

 

yes u can split the power or run it individually minus speakers..

 

this is what i plan to do with mine except the PO got rid of the stock headunit and put a aftermarket one in the original spot. instead of just taking off the faceplate he took out the entire stereo every night since it doesn't fit right
