Pinks All out, quick 8. I have an idea.
Look, we are all disappointed in the lack of coverage of our beloved little cars on Pinks All Out. Simple fact is, Rich doesn't like our group. I've read it's because of a higher percentage of track related failures which cause LONG expensive delays. And if you see it over and over, I guess you can develop a profile of what you like and what makes your life easier.
Simple fact is, we don't get much play, ever, on Pinks All Out. I haven't seen every episode, but I always watch when I find it... and I'm always bummed out...
I want to see a Honda in the quick 8... or make the field for the regular show That's how you get on TV, no questions asked. I'm not going to be doing that... ever.. but others are potentially capable, but might need some incentive or help to make it happen. Not some special import addition or anything.. I'm talking the regular "kiss the Camaro drivers a$$" Pinks All Out TV show.
I am suggesting we put up our own "Honda tech" contingency program. You get a Honda in the quick 8 on Pinks All out, and you get the pot. Make the field for the regular show, get a part of the pot. Percentages can be worked out later. I want to see our group represented. That ain't gonna happen cheap.
I'm willing to kick in $100 to start the pot. Even if others only put in a dollar or two, that ADDS UP! We need somebody potentially an industry person to keep track of it, or match it or whatever. Something. Whatever it is, will work itself out if momentum for this idea picks up.
Tony has said he isn't going back... but what if guys like Tony (fast Honda guys) could be enticed by our community to "represent" our interests?
I dunno. I'm just thinking outloud. I'm sure the idea is riddled with problems. But I just watched 2 episodes of Pinks All Out, and I'm tired of what we don't get. Might be only one of us EVER pulls it off, and I don't care. They might not like us on the show, but they can't deny us our shot in the limelight if we take it with muscle!!! and do so PROUDLY! Even if it's only 1 driver, 1 time. Give us our time!
<---irritated and potentially irrational.

im in for a little money. but i dont know because they dont have i set bracket/time so they could just play games and never let a honda in the field. .. say we had 7 cars all within .10 at 9.90-10.00 they would just set the class at 13.xx or whatever.
but i am definately all about getting the racers taken care of and helping grow our sport.
in for more thoughts and ideas.

I am assuming you have already read the other Pinks All Out Import thread. The part I don't get is why is there so emphasis to getting an Import on either Pinks show? In my opinion Pinks is not the end all be all of drag racing coverage. It might be the most popular commercial main stream drag racing TV show, but I don't see how just getting a car on the show benefits Honda's or drag racing? Honda's have already been featured on Pinks and Pinks All Out.
We are not their prime demographic, they aren't that interested in imports, so why try to so hard to be on somewhere we aren't that wanted. I think Joe had it very right in the other thread
I rather have a pool of money to get racers to big Shootout like races where their is interest and spectators are coming to watch. Use the money to help racers to travel long distances events. Get the East vs West rivalry going, generate interest within the sport before we try to hit the mainstream.

....the fast turbo cars wont work because they hotlap you like crazy once you get through "qualifying". there simply is not enough cars, unless they were to pick maybe a 12 or 13 second field. the cars that run the brackets at the import events would be the ones that have the group that they pick. no offense to those guys, its awesome your out racing, but thats not exactly entertainment to watch thats TV worthy.
i think televising anything import related at the state of sport compact racing is going to do more harm than good. get things back up to speed, get some full fields, get more ***'s in the stands, THEN start thinking about TV. and for the love of god dont let nopi have a hand in it, and give everybody an even worse reputation than they already have.

I don't feel "featured" is the best term based on total hours of the show. 7 seconds of time every 3-4 hours or so isn't "featured".

I beg to differ, we are the prime demographic, people interested in drag racing.
Having our own import only shows, does not put us up in front of people that are making decisions about what car to get next, or what car to start with. Having our own shows is preaching to the choir. We need to be more dominant where people don't know what the hell VTEC is, not perform in front of people that have it as a tatoo. ...lol...
I'm an old school V8 guy, got the Civic bug by seeing it.... Now have 5 of them... I would never have gone to an import only show, nor would I go to a Mustang only show. I go where there is the best variety. I wanna see different stuff. That's where you hook a guy. And do it before he figures out it's 4 times more expensive... ...lol...
That's why Pinks is helping drag racing, and like it or not, that IS the be all end all show for the common man. The 20 or 30 people in the crowd at the average weekend dragstrip (usually related to somebody on the track), ain't the way to go.
Gotta be where the coverage is. How's Nopi working out for ya? How's BOTI working out for ya? Woodburn was a couple weeks ago... no results posted on their site, no pics posted, and no pics posted since Orlando in April... I'm just saying, that's no way to show the love to racers that invest in your product. It's a 5 minute job... nadda.
I've always felt that adding purse money isn't necessarily the answer. Who really benefits from that? 6-8 people a few hundred bucks? How many people here have NEVER won ANY money racing... yet they keep showing up. So tap into why that is, and you're on the right track.
Me, I just want to see somebody, anybody, with a Honda going rounds and having Rich Christensen, shake his hand... That's all I'm interested in at this point, and the point of this thread.
For the LOVE OF GOD, seriously, can't we as a group represent or WHAT?! seems like all pinks ever does is the 10 and 11 second cars... as a community, WE'RE neck deep in 10 and 11 second cars. I'm willing to put $100 in that pot to see it happen. That's all I'm saying. It's either going to happen or it's not. and this thread isn't alive with ideas or support. So either the idea sucks, or we just don't have the necessary interest to even get one driver to make the show...

Can't argue with the concept of feeding peoples egos with the "idea" that they may get on TV. The Producers get to film potentially 5-7 million dollars worth of cars, all of them willing to tear up their stuff for what is essentially FREE. "Here's your Napa toolbox..." that we didn't have to pay for either.... Genius marketing.
