Default LEGAL DRAG RACES @ WILLOW SPRINGS

Every weds 6PM-10PM willow springs raceway now has an 1/8 mile drag strip. they are trying it out to see if they should build a 1/4 mile drag strip next spring. heres some info:

$10 for entrance
$10 to race
bring a helmet! they have some for rent also
no slicks
no nitrous
no trailering cars in

only 2 things that i didnt like was that there was a flagger and no time slips...but for $10 you cant complain, overall i had a great time! so if your bored on a weds night come thru!

heres one of my runs

Very interesting. Great for testing 60 fts without waiting all day at Irwindale to get 3 runs in.

Oh hey, something they should do all around SoCal to prevent illegal street racing from occurring. Who would have thought?

here you go, street racerz. always complaining about not having legal places to race--WSIR is 1.25 hrs away from metro LA. $10 is cheap. and if enough of you put your street racing money where your mouth is, they'll build a proper strip.

Now they just need a track closer to SD :-)

Edit: a 1/4 track not 1/8 parking lot strip either...

SD to WSIR is a long way, but people used to drive to LACR and that wasn't close either.

They'll build the 1/4 if you come...I just hope the street racers don't mess up the facilities and steal the pace cars and tag up the bathrooms.

I'm all for this and any track that comes into SoCal. But to look at the down side of it, have you ever drive from LA to 5fwy to 14fwy up to Willow Springs on a Weekday afternoon? With no traffic is already at least 2hrs. Its even more during the rush hour traffic. This seems like its more for the AV guys and Victorville, etc. Difficult to get people from the SFV and LA area to come up that far for an 1/8mile no time slip, etc track. I really hope they do take the chance and make it a full 1/4 mile drag facility. It'll bring out alot of major events to the area.

**To the ones following the FWY thread on GDD, notice I left out "the" in front of the fwy #s. LOL.

u can take angeles forest highway if you're south of the junction of the 5 and the 2. it saves a lot of time. from rosamond to pasadena, only takes me about 50 minutes when on the 14-5-210 takes an easy 1hr and 15 mins.

since i live in rosamond. but it died out fast. i went 2 weeks ago and there was like nobody there because it was cold as hell.

i like how they said no nitrous and slicks, but i saw some people that used both.

is it actually an 1/8mi or is it 1000ft like the pic on the website has drawn out? or is there something i dont know about 1/8mi racing?

we want to check it out since we go to that track a lot and host events there and it would be awesome if they built a 1/4mi drag strip in the same location.
