Tuning an auto civic?
I have a D16y8 auto civic with a couple of bolt-ons and looking to upgrade...
I have a ported/shaved head...which I haven't put on yet...
because I'm worried about the tuning issue...?
any advice would be greatly appreciated thank u!

The short answer is it can't be done because to in order to tune (automatic or 5 speed) you need to run an OBD1 ECU, none of which will control an OBD2 automatic tranny properly. The somewhat longer answer is you can do it if you swap you tranny for an OBD1 unit, use an OBD1 automatic throttle body, kickdown cable, 5 speed Y8 intake manifold, rewire the IACV, possibly swap out the shift cable, and do some rewire for the OBD1 tranny. Its less of a headache to just swap in a 5 speed, an obviously there are greater benefits.

Its possible for you to tune it with a Greddy E-manage or something like that, but really its not worth it. You just have bolt ons and you wont really get any power from tuning it like that. Convert your car to 5spd. I converted my 97 EX to 5SPD, its def worth it. The D series Auto trannys are garbage, they cant hold power and they shift slow as hell.
