Default just got me an 06 pilot EX-L

Didn't do much research on these cars before i got it because not much info is passed around, but do these cars last a long time? What are the most common problems with these cars and what part seems to go out first? my pilot has around 50K miles.... thanks

Common issues with 2006 Pilot (there are TSBs for all these issues):

* on 2WD models, in VCM mode a tapping/rapping noise may indicate rear bank VCM rocker arm pins are sticking.
* frequent replacement of the rear differential VTM-4 fluid is recommended
* rattling exhaust heat shield
* the idler pulley mounting surface is tilted so a squeak is heard from the timing belt area at idle
* water leak at A-pillar caused by side marker wire harness
* pop or clunk from front suspension caused by loose steering gearbox bolts

All in all, not so bad...

those are just problems that are spread out among the herd of pilots out there. I work in a pretty big dealership and have only seen the rear bank vcm issue twice, the water leak at the A pillar once and the exhaust rattle about 3 or 4 times. With Honda, there only has to be 5 or 6 reported problems of the same nature for them to issue a service bulletin on it. that's how meticulous these guys are. don't let the fact that there are a few TSBs out there scare you out of enjoying your Pilot. like any vehicle, if taken care of, they will last you a very long time. we just had an '03 traded in with over 300K on it and only b/c the trans was slipping a little. it was apparent the owner took very good care of it but some things can only last for so long until simple mechanical wear takes its' toll.

As for the rear diff fluid, if you have one, I personnally recommend fluid change every 15K miles and ONLY use HONDA VTM-4 fluid, or you will fry the clutches in it. ASK ME HOW I KNOW...

enjoy your Pilot and happy trails...

wel i think i got a decent deal on this, considering my credit is not that good and where im from is like $20,000+(not out the door). I got for $15,999 and out the door is about $20,000, put $2500 down $335 a month 5 yr. payment. My Brothers 07 FIT was $15,000 and out the door was like $24,000, $343 a month with 6 yrs. paYMENT.. so i gues i got a better deal.

VTM-4 fluid is cheap ($20.00) and it doesn't take long to replace (the pilot is so high you don't even have to jack it up)

things to look for ion the future. Im very happy with mine. I wish it was more suited for younger (car seat) kids. If you have 2 car seats your going to hate it or at least think its very frustrating for honda to biuld a family car thats not very family friendly. The 2 child seat tehters int eh middle row dont allow for our car seats to sit side by side and still have the passenger side 3rd row access seta functional. It would be easier for us to to put car seat on ewither side leaving the middle seat empty for storage of diaper bags and whatnot. I suppose not amny people have had this issue or i would have read more about it in the months of research we did before buying.

All in all Id buy it again.

Any hints on how to fix the follow 2 issues common to the Pilot?
I already heard the squeak and clunk mentioned below:
