VAFC controller is worthless imo, save and buy kpro, then tune...but the way your motor is all fux0red up i would take it to a tuner asap and see what they suggest or you can pm my tuner on here, his s/n is d-rob

Why would you get the z1 head? Just seems like a lot of extra work for a motor that you're just going to boost. An extra 20hp or so, if you do it the "right way" isn't going to mean anything but more traction issues when you go boost.

The money you would spend on the head swap you could just use on building your block and/or getting some good turbo cams.

have you ripped the head apart? because he could have thrown the cams in the a3 head

Something is fishie here.....I do not think a a3 motor would run on a a2 ecu unless it was kpro'ed and had an a3 program downloaded into it. My reasons for thinking this......
1) way different compression ratios = very different timing advance map.
2) if you were running a a3 motor, you would be running on one intake valve per cyclinder till 5800rpm. I am pretty sure the car would be undriveable from 4000rpm to 5800 rpm.

this is what i thought as well....i know there was speculation on a2 ecu's being able to work on the a3 but but i was pretty sure that the theory was not able to be proven....

so OP you have thought this whole time you have had a a2? you have six gears? and 2lobe cams? have you ever hit 8300 rpm?

He says he takes it to 8200...

This is just too strange. We need pics from under the valve cover and of the block stamp.

If he infact he has a k20a2 ecu, its got to be kpro'ed....It could be just a rekeyed ep3 ecu with a reflash...

if it is kpro'ed his redline would be 8600 and it is possible that whoevee had the car before hand got kpro and then never got it tuned, which is dumb but ep3 ecu rekey could be possible

Are you sure it's just not tuned really crappy so that it's sluggish until peak torque kicks in which for the EP3 peak torque is about 5k RPM's. Then they just tuned it to rev limit at 8200?

That ecu has to have reflash or kpro'd. Ur vtec engagement point is too low for stock. What is it like 5600 on the ep? The rsx-s is 5800 on stock ecu
