Strange brake setup on my '93 Civic EX
I have a bizarre situation on my '93 Civic Ex coupe. I installed new pads and now the calipers (both sides) do not line up with the rotor. As soon as I tighten the 17mm bolts for the t-bracket then the rotor gets seized against the caliper/bracket. This has nothing to do with the brake pedal needing adjusting. Keep in mind the caliper piston is still fully retracted...so I know for a fact the caliper piston is not touching the pads. Therefore, the brake pedal is not the problem.
Shouldn't the rotor be centered in line with the center of the caliper? I look thru the top of the caliper and see the outer pads only. I'm thinking I should be able to see both pads thru that little port. Also, one caliper is marked "ad51" and the other caliper has no markings at all. Could it be that the prior owner was a total hack of a mechanic and couldn't get the right parts to install on the car? I'm wanting to know what markings are on a stock/oem ex caliper so that I can compare. Can you guys tell me the correct markings on your ex calipers?
I'll try and get some pics tonight.
